Oberlin

How difficult is it to transfer into Oberlin? Their website says they accept around 50 or so students, but how many are applying for those slots?

Well, in 2005 268 applied, 83 were admitted and 37 enrolled.
Here's the link if you don't trust me (just kidding):

Where are you currently?

A community college in New York. I will be applying for transfer next fall for junior standing in '07.

And thanks for the info!

I don't know, I think they are funny about admissions. I got rejected but got into Brown, Penn, and Swarthmore. Who knows!

Joanna, My son was just admitted to Oberlin as a transfer at both the Con. and the college. He was waitlisted the year before. He had an on-campus transfer interview in the summer and completed most of his application materials last September. He is in his second year at a smaller LAC and has about a 3.6 GPA. Oberlin was his first choice and I believe that came through in his application. The odds are not that bad for transfer admission so it is definitely worth the effort. Try to make the most of your next year and make sure you have a safety school. Best of luck with your transfer applications.

Do they look down upon SAT scores (SAT IIs, as well) taken in college?

You should talk to the admission office about that. I did the same with Stanford and the others.
