Obligated to take the AP test?

I recently got accpeted ED into the General Studies Program, and I, of course, am ecstatic and will be attending in the fall. Everyone is speaking about "senioritis" lately and how low grades can drop once one is admitted early, but I was wondering whether or not we are obligated to take the AP tests for the classes that we are taking. I'm taking AP AB Calculus right now, and needless to say, math is not my thing and it never was. I have a mediocre teacher and I am less then confident that I can get a 3 on the AP test. Since I have applied to NYU with "AP Calculus" on my transcript for senior year, could my admission potentially be revoked because I opted out of taking the actual AP test?
(I'm not just being lazy or anything, I've taken four AP tests before [AP Scholar w/ Honor] and have 6 to take this year, including Calculus... will it really make a difference if I don't take it but complete the class, considering I know I won't pass the test and get credit?)

No, I really don't think it's a big deal at all if you don't take the test. I'm pretty sure that they only want the test scores if you want to waive credits. Even if you did take the test and did poorly, it wouldn't really matter. You just wouldn't get credit.

don't worry, it won't make any difference. its completely up to u whether you want to the exams or not

sorry I'm barging into your topic but does anyone know how to find out if NYU received your ap scores? I'm a freshman and I don't want to find out my senior year I have to take a bunch of map courses that I have ap credit for

I don't really understand why you wouldn't take the test. Maybe you don't have to bother with studying for it, but actually taking the exam is maybe three hours out of your life, and it will not hurt you at all if you get a 1 on the exam. On the other hand, if there is even the teeniest tiniest chance that you could do well and pass, you could get credit for it, and maybe not have to ever take math again (or not as much math) which seems like that would be good for you, since math is not your thing. I would say take the test, it's only three hours out of your life, and if there's even a two percent chance of your getting out of some other math class or any class at all really somewhere down the road then it's worth it. If you don't care about how you'll do, don't waste time studying, but it's not a good idea to just not take it at all. That said, no college would really care if you ended up not taking the exam, it just seems like a silly choice.
