Obtaining a Fee Waiver

Hello,

I did not know if this post was more appropriate in the Financial Aid section or here, but seeing as it pertains to admissions, I decided here. Please correct me if I am wrong.

So I am in the process of applying to college, and will submit my applications in the next couple of days. I have been obtaining institutional fee waivers from a variety of schools, but some of the schools offices are closed. My family is well below the USDA guidelines that the College Board uses when determining fee waivers, and so far I have been 100% successful in obtaining a waiver. Some of the colleges´ offices are closed right now, so I have not yet recieved a reply and I imagine I will not until the offices reopen. The problem is that is after when my application is due.

So, I was considering selecting "other fee waiver" on the CommonApp and submitting my application, notifying the colleges. Then if the college decides for whatever reason that they will not grant me a fee waiver, I can pay the fee after.

What do yáll think of the decision?

The colleges I would have to do this for are Harvard, Boston College, Dartmouth, Pomona, Bowdoin, and Yale.

300 views and no reply?

On Yale’s supp I know you can simply upload a request! I did it!

And for H I mailed in a request. I’m a gap year kid and I didn’t want to have to ask my gc for fifty million fee waivers, lol.
