I hear the UCs are terrible to get into this year! (We’re in CA, but didn’t apply to any UCs. But everyone we know did. It hasn’t been good for many of them.) Oxy is a great choice-- congratulations!

I’m curious, you said your D got 40k scholarship from Oxy. Was that merit only or merit plus FA? My D got in with a President’s scholarship (20k py) and just want to know if there is a possibility to get more! We don’t qualify for FA.

According to their website the max scholarship is $30k/year. My D also got the $20k/yr one and zero FA. She declined her position today though (attending Smith College next Fall.) Good luck negotiating if you decide to.

I also only saw $30k as the max scholarship, which is why I asked. I’m just not sure we can justify the cost since our D got significantly more merit from other schools. Oh this is so hard!
I know. My D’s Smith scholarship was only $12k/yr. Oxy $20k/yr. GWU $25k/yr, and Lewis&Clark $35k/yr. Nonetheless she picked the school she loved the most (also the highest ranked) and is walking away from bigger scholarships.
She got Margaret, Merit (National Finalist) and one more . all together it was 40K. remember Margaret , because that itself was 30K and was mentioned in the main letter.
Thanks! I was trying to see if there was another $40k scholarship that wasn’t listed. When you say your D got one more in addition to National Merit and Margaret, was that for merit also or was it for a talent or special interest area?
