anyone have info?

. . .very good school. Sciences are solid. Campus is not that pretty but the student body is pretty attractive.

The sciences are strong, particularly when you take some of your science classes at CalTech. The campus is nice.

What kind of info do you expect to get about the school?

how is its location?

i know its in LA but ive never been to LA.. is it close to downtown or where the action is? how hard is it to get into the city without a car?

It's location is alright to pretty good. It's an Eagle Rock, which is right near Pasadena, in an okay to at times run-down area. There are many campus-community programs that benefit both parties. The campus is very pretty and green, with a very cool look to it. It's been used for many movies as both colleges (90210, I believe) and Clueless (the high school is occidental, I think). It's relatively close to LA. The college is good about having trips to LA activities. You should really visit and/or call the admissions office with questions about it.

i'm a big fan of oxy. it's a great school, and its in eagle rock, which is part of the city of los angeles. the neighborhood has been gentrified in the last couple of years and still is home to a large filipino and hispanic community, to the college, and to the growing number of yuppies who have discovered the area. the main drags of colorado blvd and eagle rock blvd are now (just in the last couple of years) lined with coffee shops, antique furniture stores, traditional and ethnic restaurants, etc. there's a small mall within a mile or so of the campus with a Target and other dept stores. Glendale and Pasadena flank eagle rock, and each of those two cities have pleasant downtown areas, with Old Town Pasadena being really fun. Downtown is about 10-15 mins by car, Hollywood about 20-25 mins, Santa Monica and the beach about 30-40 mins by car (longer in the traffic).
