<p>I'm a student at Columbia, but will be driving up to Dartmouth next weekend with my high-school-age sister to tour the school. I've long told her of Dartmouth students being able to skate the pond and rivers in the winter, and she's really looking forward to doing that -- but has the pond actually frozen over yet, and if so, has anyone actually been out on it?</p>

<p>Basing things on the temperatures here in Maine, I doubt that things will have frozen at D yet. Even though it can be a little colder there, since it is father away from the moderating influence of the sea.</p>
<p>Although I’m not currently on campus, I would say that the pond is definitely not frozen thick enough to skate on yet. Maybe she’ll be able to visit again winter term when things have solidified a bit? :)</p>
