Ocean biology summer program for high school students

<p>Hi, </p>

<p>My son is a high school freshman and is interested in majoring in the ocean/marine biology in college. </p>

<p>Is there any summer program that would help him gain the foundation ideas on the marine biology at an early stage?
I found a couple such as COSMOS but they all seem a bit sophisticated for his level. And we are looking mainly for the ones in the West Coast. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. </p>
