Oceanography class Junior year for Engineering Major

Hi all, would oceanography be a pointless class to take for my junior year because I do want to be an engineering major? My Guidance counselor told me that it would look good as an extra science class but I’m not sure if it would look good for say a service academy or ivy league college. I am unable to take physics or engineering next year due to the fact that I am taking geometry this year and algebra 2 next year. Would oceanography be a good choice as an extra science class or should I take say anatomy even though I’m not interested in medicine?

Sidenote: I would also be taking this as an honors class.

If you want to take it, take it. Enjoy yourself your high school years

Make sure you complete at least pre-calc by the end of high school because you’ll be expected to start in Calc 1 as an engineering major. If you want to take oceanography take it, it might be interesting.

If you want to be an engineering major, I would really really try to finish Calc by the end of HS. You don’t have to , but most other students you will be competing with will have done so.

You need to have honors biology, honors chemistry, honors physics or AP physics 1, plus one more Science AP.
Also, try your utmost to take algebra 2 over the summer and pre-calculus honors next year, so that you can take AP calculus senior year.
Go see your guidance counselor and ask, if you take algebra 2 over the summer can you take pre-calculus and physics next year?
Engineering and CS have become highly competitive and this is the sequence 'expected '.
