I would just like to share my epic win experience with Chem140A. Everyone said ochem was going to be incredibly hard, that it was going to give me nightmares, well maybe everyone hasn't taken Albizati before. Albizati is some big shot CEO that's also a professor of Ochem at UCSD, and his teaching is simply great. He didn't make his tests too challenging, he explained things very well to make sure that you learned. He likes to make people think instead of memorize, that way we really come to know the stuff well. In his class you don't really need a book since he tests you on things that he covered in lecture.

What's most helpful is that he gives out practice midterms and practice finals, on top of that he also does a hell of a good job with his test review sessions.

Finally he's also a super awesome guy. If you want an easy A in Ochem take Albizati, don't let people tell you how impossibly hard Ochem is, it's all ********.

Organic Chemistry is still a difficult concept to grasp, but any class is easy when the professor tells you that you won’t have to know this reaction and this reaction for the exams.

I would only say Albizati is an easy A but not Organic Chemistry, itself. How many A’s did Albizati give exactly?

By the way, kkiiji, did you by chance have Dr. Burg this quarter for genetics?

Haha got me again, seriously how did you guess? lol

I got an A+. I was ranting about midterm 1 just because it was my first midterm at UCSD ever and it completely blew my brains, after that I got used to it.

Did you already finish all of your ochem and ochem lab? Are you taking any next quarter? How about metabolic biochem?

Your enthusiasm about Albizati matched your enthusiastic posts on webct so I pretty much took a wild guess haha. Congrats on the A+. You beat my solid A, then again I never can pull the A+.

I’m actually just a second year. I had Perrin for chem140A, in which I got an A in as well, HOWEVER I wouldn’t exactly call his class a win tho haha. It was really tricky. He didn’t even show up for our final review session so I went to Albizati’s instead. Are you in Theodorakis next quarter?

As for the ochem lab, I’ve had people recommend me not to take the lab until after the ochem series since alot of it is covered in the lab.

No metabolic for me YET. Soon though, soon. :)

Yeah Albizati is probably a lot better. For some reason it was actually fun being in his lectures, maybe it was all the audience participation. Well he was a funny guy in general.

I am taking Theodorakis, you too? He had amazing reviews.

Damn you’re a second year and you’re taking all these upper divs? That’s pretty crazy. I’m just trying to get all these bio requirements out of the way, and I heard Ternansky’s Ochem lab doesn’t require any long lab reports so it shouldn’t be too bad.

And yeah I heard horrible things about metabolic biochem, it’s going to be a rough ride next quarter for me. You’re probably much better off not hurrying it. :)
