Oct 20 - Saturday SAT - What'd You Think?

psat is out of 240. Each section is worth 80 points max. Psat has 4 25 min section and a 30 min writing section. There is total of 125 questions in the whole test (48 in reading, 38 in math, 39, in writing). Basically is a shorter version of SAT. PSAT is usually easier and therefore has harsh curves. 2-3 wrong in a section would probably be low 70's in PSAT

The PSAT is made so that your SAT scores are close to the PSAT scores. On the PSAT, one mistake costs you enormously (-2 up to -6 sometimes, which would be -20 to -60 on the real sat.....realllllyyyy nasty) while on the real SAT they give you more questions with a much nicer curve, but the questions are harder and thus you get more wrong, all an attempt by the CB to make your PSAT and SAT scores correlate, even though it never really happens.

I did bad on the math....

:'(

especially since on my practice PSATs my math was my best section >_<

my prediction:

Wr: 80 (seriously, I know for sure I got everything right)
Cr: 70
M: 70

220 is good enough for me (Pa cutoff is 217)

I actually do better on SAT. I took psat and SAT frosh year. Got 188 psat and 2050 SAT weird huh? The tests were like only 2 months apart too.

I stumbled a little bit on the CR and the Math was tricky at times, but I think I did ok.

I predict an 80 on the math the rest I'm not sure mabye 520-620. who knows.

I came out of the test feeling like it was really easy.... when i got home, however, i started feeling like crap. I omitted only one question in the second math section, and from my friend found out that i made a stupid error on another math question but i think those were my only problems in math. I owned on the writing section maybe 0-1 wrong and the cr was a little iffy.... i think i got all the vocab right but i think i missed two in the passages... i hope i make more than a 217 (texas cutoff). I hate the waiting!!!

Does anyone know the California cutoff?

when do we get the scores back for this thing again?

I pretty sure the most recent California cutoff was 216.

Can we change the thread title so that more people will comment? It's really misleading, using SAT instead of PSAT.

I would but this thread is completely useless now seeing as almost all of the answers have been discussed in the SAT and ACT Tests & Test Preparation section...
