***Oct 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

Gonna lurk in this thread… I strangely miss the fear, paranoia, excitement, and suffering that permeated the SAT.

what kind of test are you guys hoping for? easy but harsh curve, medium and average curve or hard and lenient curve? personally I’m hoping for a medium test with every section being medium difficulty

I want easy but harsh curve for math and writing but a medium and average curve for reading.

I agree with @DaneBrick‌ - easy/harsh for math and writing, medium/average curve for reading. I finally raised my critical reading score to mid-700s today! Although my math score is slowly dropping, haha. Only have 3 tests left in the blue book.

I last took the SAT in May 2014. I’ve been studying recently and have been taking practice tests, but my practice scores are the same as my actual SAT scores. Haha

Sorry for the (kind of) double post, but how are you guys gauging your scores on practice tests in the blue book? It only gives you an approximation after the 3rd test because they can’t have exact curves for tests that weren’t administered, but the range is suspiciously large…

@glasshours The range is misleading. You could just pick a value near the middle & that gives you a good idea of what your score is, or go online and use the SAT calculator. The latter is pretty accurate because it uses scores from past tests to pretty much show how frequent certain scores are.

same with you guys haha i like an easy math so i could answer more questions and be more accurate. for writing i’ll take a medium test. reading i’ll take medium too. i generally and I’m using GENERALLY find the blue book just a little easier than the actual SAT. Given all that what desired score are you guys hoping for each section? I’ve taken the SAT 3 times and it’s not fun. In CR-620-650 in M 630-650 and in W 670-720. have to work on essay. can’t seem to break a 9. 10 would be a good essay score for me

@TheCalculator‌ - Thanks! Which online score calculator do you use particularly?

^ what he said

If I can break 2200, I’d be content. Math is my strong suit -I don’t miss any, so I usually get 800. My CR is low 700s and writing is high 600s to low 700s. The essay is what I’m more concerned for because I need to get a 10 or above to get my desired writing score. I’m hoping math and CR is medium difficulty, and writing is kinda easy.

Hoping for a 2100…CR kills me.

Thank you, @TheCalculator‌ and @Jor26029‌! :)

any tips on how to do better on hard grammar questions? every practice test i take i get 7-10 wrong. i want to get that number down to 5 or less.

@sat2014‌ just practice with CB tests and ONLY CB tests. That will definitely help you. Hands down.

lmaooo same i barely studied bc i was so busy
i took it in june n got a 1590 w/o studying too much
i want to go up to a 1600 but its not necessary bc ik im getting into the college i want bc of my score n gpa

@sat2014 use The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar; Its unbelievably amazing. It helped me to decrease my mistakes from 15-20 to 5, though, I’m international student and don’t study in an american school.

Does the int’l curve differ from the domestic one?

what’s the lowest score you guys would take on the october test? for me i want at least an 1800 but i’ll be very happy if i get a 1900.

Aiming for 2100… or else I will have to take it again either on Nov or Dec. :frowning:

The lowest I’ll take is 2150 or else I’m gonna go ape ■■■■. Since this is my last Sat, It’s do or die (that might be an exaggeration ).
