If the curve is harsh ,the questions must be easy. If the curve is lenient, then the questions must be challenging. Either way, even if the score is harsh or not, your score will represent your skill, so don’t burden yourselves with thinking that this test is going to be "graded harder ". All tests are graded near equally , maybe not perfectly because small deviations are inevitable.

Halfway through a 100-shot archery tournament, Chelsea leads by 50 points. For each shot a bullseye scores 10 points, with other possible scores being 8, 4, 2, and 0 points. Chelsea always scores at least 4 points on each shot. If Chelsea’s next “n” shots are bullseyes she will be guaranteed victory. What is the minimum value for “n”?

A) 38
B) 40
C) 42
D) 44
E) 46

I’ll take a harsh curve any day. if the questions are easier, then all you have to do is avoid those dumb mistakes and you should score really high

Maybe I’m crazy, but I would actually prefer a lenient curve. I tend to make dumb mistakes but usually don’t find hard level questions much worse than the easy ones, so the more mistakes I can make the better x_x

Studying is going pretty well for me! I’m oscillating between confidence and blind terror. But I really think we’re all gonna do great this time

@Jarjarbinks23 : I got C = 42. Could you confirm?

@Mystic7 - I agree. I make SO many careless errors. :(

Just graded my practice test…I’m so screwed.

@7alman i think it is e=46

@glasshours how’d it go? About to take a test myself so hopefully I do well

@satplzzz Sorry to tell you, you’re wrong.

OP - @Jarjarbinks23 What’s the answer?

BECAUSE(A) sounds waves TRAVEL FASTER(B) in liquids THAN THEY DO© in gases, the speed of the sound in water is greater than THAT OF SOUND(D) in the air. Pretty sure i got that wrong. I put answer C but i think it is E now. any thoughts?

@Jor26029 thanks, can’t stop making mistakes on the hard grammar questions it’s like a disease, you treat it and it goes away only to come back later

@7alman yeah it is c 42

@7alman yea it’s C, it’s actually an AMC 12 problem… problem #5 to be exact. not sure which year though. The 1st 10 problems of an AMC 12 test arre great supplements for the SAT Math and Math 2 tests

@DaneBrick - It went terribly Yours? I keeping thinking I’m okay, then I take another practice test, and all my confidence dissipates…

@glasshours i scored a 1760 on a PT. i want to punch myself for the careless and stupid mistakes i made on M and W. got 11 wrong in writing, should of gotten only 3. in math, i did my math wrong in 3 of them. reading though i’m pretty sad. didn’t get the full meaning of passages therefore got plenty wrong. lots of 4 and 5 wrongs combined with a couple 2’s and 3’s. no excuse why i did so poorly. have to correct dumb mistakes in W and M and try to improve my CR. i can’t stop stressing every time i take an SAT or a PT. i think if my nerves are relaxed, I will do much better. got a week to fix my mistakes. good luck to you. You’ll be fine.

@glasshours I just got a 2150 on a blue book test. To me, that’s a good sign. I’m just hoping that I didn’t do well because of memory since I am borrowing this blue book from a friend so I could redo the tests. Gonna do some tests from here soon to make sure I’m good for saturday since I’ve never done them and they’re from collegeboard:
<a href=“Links to Additional Official SAT Practice Tests from CollegeBoard - SAT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1277787-links-to-additional-official-sat-practice-tests-from-collegeboard-p1.html

Are the blue book practice sat’s really accurate? I’ve been doing pretty well on them (depends how my essay goes), but I feel like ill freeze up on the real one and do worse…
And I just got sick today -.- if it doesn’t clear up by Saturday ill be totally screwed…taking the sat with 1837382 used tissues by my side

@sillyface supposedly you’re supposed to do better on the real thing, but that hasn’t been the case for me on critical reading. CR has always been a wildcard for me. Either I get what I’m reading or I don’t and that sucks.

Thanks to the ACT, I’ve become a speed demon in CR. So if I don’t get a passage, I can read the passage as many times till I understand it, knowing that I have a surfeit of time. Before I used to barely have an excess of time.
