Hi, I have applied EA to a few schools and am taking the Oct. 22 ACT again. The results will not get to the schools until after the Nov. 1 first deadline. Will they still accept those scores and take them into consideration if they are higher? Or will they not be considered because they arrived after the deadline?

Depends on college. Most with EA accept through October tests even though score arrives after Nov 1 (many even accept Nov SAT scores). However, some do not, e.g., UIUC which states the Oct ACT test is too late; Michigan says the same.

Note for those for which the Oct ACT score would be too late for EA, that only applies if the score is actually needed to complete your file. If in fact file is already complete by early Nov – for example you sent a prior ACT score and otherwise sent everything required for the application – you can always then supplement that file after Nov 1 by sending additonal materials including a new test score.

I do have previous scores already sent in, so you are saying as long as I already have scores submitted they will accept the new ones after the deadline?

Yes, as long as file is “complete,” meaning it already has anything required including any required test score, by early November, you can then send supplemental info afterwards including a new test score and it will be considered as long as it is not too late to be considered at all (you should assume that likely by early December, they will have internally made a final decision on you and thus things arriving thereafter will not be considered).

Ok, thank you very much drusba!!! This was very helpful (and makes me feel a little bit less stressed).
