Okay, this was the first time I've taken the ACT, so maybe it was just me. But did this seem way easier than you thought it was going to be, or was it just me??? Everything except the math seemed really easy to me...

Did you leave before the 4th section?
It was Science.
It killed us all.

just because all of us found the science to be ridiculously hard doesn't mean it was hard in the eyes of the ACT makers, and therefore the curve will not be very lenient.

But since all of us found science to be ridiculously hard except a select few, if we all score poorly on it, they will curve it so that the same number of students get as good of scores as on past test dates

They wouldn't just have one test date have way lower science scores than other test dates, it wouldn't be a Standardized test then

oops, this totally isnt related to the beginning thread

Just looked at your stats profile...
SAT I Math
470
SAT I Critical Reading
580
SAT I Writing
620
SAT II Literature
540
SAT II Math Level 2 (IIC)
470
SAT II Chemistry
450

And you claim that the ACT is easy. If the ACT was easy than 1/4000+ kids would not have gotten a 36 last year. It would have been much smaller. I don't know what to say about this...

I thought that it was really easy, but I just couldn't do it all. I had to guess on the last 5 for math and the last 3-4 for reading.

I actually found the science section fairly easy, though.

I probably still did really bad though. I needed a 32 I believe for it to matter since I got a 2040 on the SAT.

Oh yeah, i mean all of the sections were easy, time's just an issue, its not that we couldnt figure them all out with more time

time is not an issue. If the test was easy you could blaze through it. I will give you an example. I finished the englsh test in 20 minute (yes 20) and did it again. I finished the math in 25 minutes and did that one again. i finished the reading in 35 and the science in 30

Using this info...I'd say the english and math are disproportionally easy to the reading/science. There is no reason the discrepancy should be this large.

Or you just have your strengths in English and Math so you complete them faster

English is hard if you-don't skim
math is hard if you-don't know what to look for, use your calculator often..the entire test really is written to be mental math..

Math in 25 minutes?

I think there wasn't enough time on the ACT... I got a 760 on math for SAT, 750 on mathlvl2c, 5s on AP Calc BC and AP Statistics, yet I didn't have enough time for the last 5 problems on the ACT.

All the math was really easy but a few of the questions were worded very poorly and forced me to take my time and redo a few of them.

Yes...I scored badly on the SAT (and that's just on CC standards) so I must be stupid, and therefore cannot think that the ACT was any easier.

Puh-lease.

No its just that you did bad on the sat 2's too which like the ACT can be studied for so you can't just say SAT-type "intelligence/iq/reasoning" tests aren't your thing.

Time was the only issue for me. If I had had more time, I wouldn't have felt the need to rush which sent me into a bit of panic. Ugh...It was the science test that got me.

the science was beastly.
like <8 on math i wasn't sure on
english not bad
and i actually finished reading this time

Also you said you thought you scored a 27 which means even you don't belive its easy. And yes those scores are bad with or without cc standars. You can get a 600 on math2c just by knowing how to use your calculator.

I don't mean to sound harsh. Just my 2 cents.

a 27 is not a bad score at all, its actually a great score.

I disagree that the test was easy but that doesn't mean i'm going to demean a 27. That was very condescending.

Everyone has their own standards...

math was significantly harder than september, so was science.

english and reading was easier.
