October 15 PSAT Discussion

@psyence5150

That's the way I saw it. The problem is I'm the ONLY person I know of to circle that as the answer, besides you.

My friends argued that it didn't FIT anywhere in the 3rd paragraph because there was no need to reintroduce that topic, but I didn't think there was a good fit before sentence 5 either...

Oh well... what's done is done?

hehehehe about the 1000 even integer one --> its definitely 1998 --> question was what is the difference b/w the 1st and last digits of 1000 consecutive even integers --> this doesnt nec. mean start w. 0; 0 IS even but that is irrelevant b/c if you start with 0 then you will end with 1998. THINK 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24,26,28,30 --> w. 10 [10 = n] integers you go 18 numbers up and w. 15 [15=n] integers you go 28 numbers up OR you go (2 * n) - 2 digits up --> so for 1000 you will go 2000 - 2 = 1998 ^^

Now then... i was wondering if anyone remembers the question in writing where you had to edit the sentence --> the sentence had blah blah,however, because blah blah blah and the choices were delete ,however, and change something else to was popular srry i cant remember more context but what was the answer? stylistically however because is crap... but a friend said it was the was popular choice b/c the referred to a pronoun they never defined in the senctence

thankies ^^

winston, your friend was absolutely correct.

Hey guys I asked this on another thread, but..

The PSAT that will be administered on Saturday is different from the one you guys are talking about now right?

@misterwang
you are correct

@collegeaddiction

I'm not so sure about your writing prediction (78-80).
Just so you know I missed 1 question last year and got a 76. Of course the practice test this year was -1=78 but a lot of times 77 78 and 79 aren't even possible values (unfortunatley, because I missed 1).

What did you guys put for the reading question in the Mars passage?

It's like:

How would the author of passage one respond to the findings of passage 2?

I got down to "surprise" and "concurrence." Which is the right answer?

@kscnoko
i got "concurrence"

Why would it be "concurrence?" I put surprise. Can you provide any explanation?

If I recall correctly, the 2nd passage's findings supported the 1st's argument that there was water on Mars.

@thequestionmark:

Yeah, all my friends put "before sentence 5" too...

but i think they did not read it over in context

hey what did you guys put for the lsat questin on CR reading section 1

it was like in the last paragraph of the informtions passage, what does the author do?

was it like something along the lines of giving two differnet viewpoints?

^that's what I put, but I was pressed for time so I didn't really think too much about it

wow i was in same position, i had 30 secs left so instead of reading paragraph, i just read the choices, and the choice about comparing two different viewpoints was expressed in the prior paragraphs and was most logic answer so i put that...hopefully someone else can confirm that.

i need all the lucky breaks i can get

did anyoen get this as an answer
"Mr. Bret's departure will diminish the reputation of our school like none other."

Wasn't one of them "Nothing will diminish the reputation of our school like Mr. Bret's departure"? The one you posted doesn't sound correct - like none other what?

no i iddint like that one either cuz it said
Nothing will diminish the reputation of our school like Mr. Bret's departure WILL
the second will was redundant

none other...departure

ugh idk how you guys remember all the questions so well.
lmao i'm going to be so angry if i did worse than last year (218)
i had trouble with the supercilious problem : /

yea the author was comparing two different points,but i remember that at last the author made a preference........

Nothing will diminish the reputation of our school like Mr. Bret's departure will,

whats redudant about that, like has to have a verb after it or you cant use like
i think you thought about it too hard and you stretched redundancy,

redundancy is usually obvious like Tomorrow, in the future,...
i dont that that is redudancy, come to think of it i never really even check for that.

Mr. Bret's departure will diminish the reputation of our school like none other

i think that should say

Mr. Bret's departure will diminish the reputation of our school like no other?

i dont think none other makes sense, it sounds weird...to me

what does everyone else think?
and what did you guys get for the last CR question in section one atlking abotu the last paragraph in the info passage (was it compare two different viewpoints or something)
