I took the October 2007 practice test and I lost the curve/scale. How would I convert my raw score to 2400?
Thanks!

Just use a general range for the scores. It won't be perfect, but you will have a general idea, and thats all you really need. Put your raw scores up and we can help you.

CR: 48/67 (15 wrong)
Math: 49/54 (4 wrong)
Writing: 44/49 (5 wrong)
Essay: 11

How did you score your essay?

And the bluebook gives these score ranges for your scores.
CR - 580-640
Math - 680-740
Writing - 69-79 for MC; 690-800 with a 10-12 essay

I would take the average of the ranges and the minimum of the ranges to get a better idea of where you stand.

My essays have been pretty consistent, so 11 is the average (an SAT prep program grades them)

I have a feeling my SAT prep program is purposely giving us lower scores so be don't get cocky. They told us that we just took the October 2007 actual SAT, so I want to compare my "true" score with their score.
So I can basically score anywhere from 1950 to 2180?

And how does writing vary so much? A 110pt swing is huge!

Each test, the weight of the essay compared to the MC varys slightly. And the CB book scale doesn't give essay scores out of 12, they give them out of 6, so its a 10 or 12 essay, but no 11.

And in general, SAT prep courses give you higher scores towards the end of the course and lower scores at the beginning, to show improvement. They give a really hard first exams, but then give you there easy ones so that you feel that you get better.

Definitely true! But in my prep class last year, they kinda screwed up. The second to the last test was easy and people did well on it(I got 2030), but the last one was the hardest ever(I got 1600, a 400 point drop). My teacher was like "on crap, this should have been the first test!" It turned out that the test itself wasn't hard. It's just that the prep company use the wrong answer key for some tests just to show that you suck at the beginning. After arguing with the teacher, I got more than 400 points back...
Prep companies are evil :(
