October 2007 SAT II Chemistry

and the 1 about CO2 being oxidized to CO3 i put nothing im pretty shure its false because they have the same charges and dont lose electrons..

and for the mass of 1 carbon atom....2.0 X 10^-23

no- CO2 can be oxidized to CO3

sulfuric acid- no, only the first two

mass of 1 carbon atom-yes

For the sulfuric acid one, I thought it was the first two, but I may be wrong. And the one with NO2 being oxidized to NO3, I think it is possible. Although they have the same charge, NO2- be oxidized with an oxygen atom to get NO3-. (And I got 2.0*10-23 for carbon atom)

and is it buret or graduated cylinder? Buret is more precise, but you don't commonly use buret for simple volume measuring. You used it to dispense acid/base in titation.

but that doesn't mean you can't use a buret to measure volume

and plus, graduated cylinder only measures up to like 1mL accuracy i think, whereas buret goes up to +/- 0.05mL

any other T/F ones you guys weren't sure about?

???? plz help
need 2 know if i need to cancel or not

ah lol i omitted 11 questions.. and at this point every question that we're talkiong about, i got wrong. do you think i shoud cancel?

woah i have the same issue as sang10518 lol, i guessed on like 10 and left 2 blank.... could that be around 760?

going by the scale given in the barrons book, i think i got around a 750. i definitely could've done better though if i paced myself better lol. hopefully i scored well.

so....what score would you think would constitute a retake?

pwafflesprinkles
i think it would be around 760, provided the curve isnt too harsh
personally id be thrilled to get around 770. should u retake if u get 760?

Can anyone remember what T/T/CE questions were? (the questions whose answers were T/T/CE)

can someone be so kind and explain the oxidization CO2 CO3 question? thanksss

Hey guys, I know that this seems like an easy question but I think I read it incorrectly. On one of the last questions, it talked about which of the following unit measurements is correct. What did you guys put?

micro 10^-6

yea, it's micro

sorry for the topic change, but say you missed 5 and omitted 2, does that mean
a 780 or 790? Based on the Sparknotes chart it is, but that seems a little high

The actual concepts on the test were not too difficult...about 60% of the test is, I would say, only about 15% of all chemistry knowledge. The other 40% is just common sense and knowing your math and calculations.

I think I mixed up Erlenmeyer flask with volumetric flask, since it said "given" volume, and if volumetric flask were an answer, that would have been most accurate...otherwise buret seems to be the correct answer.

What about the question like "which of these compounds most likely wouldn't occur?" Was that one AlO3?

As for what score I would retake for: I would definitely retake it if I receive 730 or below, I would consider retaking for a score between 740 and 760, and I would not retake it if I get a 770 or higher. But then again, I am going to major in science and this chemistry score is pretty important to me (and probably to the colleges I am applying to).

yea, it's Al2O3, not AlO3

anyone remember what the last question in T/T/CE was?
