October 2009 SAT II - Spanish

I think the Spanish subject test was fairly easy, but that's considering my Spanish background and the fact that I'm in AP Spanish language.

Anyways, what did you guys get for the feminine story's purpose? I put to inform. Also, the dog one was humorous, correct?

One of the fill in the blanks left me thinking for a while... it was something like "a la" or "a" circulacion or something like that. Also, the chess one where the players are in a different room. "Que" tiene espesos cristales?

i also put to inform.
i was choosing between humorous and something else, and ended up choosing something else… i can’t remember what that was though.
a la circulacion
left espesos cristales blank. wasn’t sure at all

i put cuyos for the last one and humorous.

I put cuyos and humurous too. Also for the dog one,
What did he do when he was made Director of Security? My answer was the “niega a desempenar” one and why did his owners name him Beethoven?

Second, there was a passage about the Ford Car and the narrator’s obsession with it. Was the answer “estaba” or estuvo"?

i put humorous and cuyos too. Director of Security wasn’t it taking advantage of his position? (aprovechar)… do you guys have MSN messenger? why dont we discuss thru it?

Was aprovechar a choice? I don’t remember :(.

Also, his owners called him beethoven because he wouldn’t listen to the other names he was called by (something about his pride).

I’m pretty sure it was estaba. I put estuvo at first but then changed it to estaba after reading the next sentence. I think it was estuvo though :/.

Which one was cuyos?

i think it’s estaba because it’s talking about a rather long period of time… cuyos was the partB last passage as far as i remember… the players thing

i put humorous, but i really didn’t understand the dog story. i read the questions and looked for the answers, rather than reading the passage.

i know for a fact i did not put cuyos :S

i said the feminine one was to inform

“Second, there was a passage about the Ford Car and the narrator’s obsession with it. Was the answer “estaba” or estuvo”?"

It was estaba. They were saying, that the car was already there before “I” had been born. So it had to be estaba.

bump! guys lets make a list of answers for this exam too

yes! i put cuyos, humorous, and estaba. There was one that I wasn’t sure about… whatever.

How many can you normally miss and still get a 700?

I don’t remember putting cuyos, but everything else seems right with me.

Hopefully I can miss about 2 and still get an 800.

Did anyone answer traje de bano for one of them?

i put botas… none of the other answer choices made any sense

I put traje de banos because it was about snow, right?
Regarding the feminist one, they ask about a certain group and what it is? Is the answer ‘activist group’?

The EU one was also confusing. There were about 5 questions, I believe.

for

  1. ‘No tengo una pluma, no tienes uno-----?’ do you know the answer for this one?
I remember the answer choices included ‘al tanto, a mano’

‘Hay mucho trafico, -----debes jugar a la calle porque es muy peligroso’
answer choices - por supuesto, de ninguna manera, tanto mejor,

'a las diez, ella -----dormida-
answer choices - estara, es , '

do you the answer for the last question?, with advertisement about ‘cuidado infantil’,

@ignore91:

1) a mano –> “do you have one, at hand?”
2) its definitely not por supuesto or tanto mejor so I put ‘niguna manera’.
3) Not sure but I read it as- At 10 o’ clock, she will be asleep." So I put estara.
4) I don’t remember the question but if you give me a part of it plus some of the answers, I can remember what I wrote.

advertisement - “Cuidado Infantil” (providing new program about rearing a child)-- The last question was 'at whom would this advertisement be targetted?"

Answer Choices - who have kids in their house, who need ‘Auxilio’, who are very rich (or need money)…

I put the “those who need money.” Having second thoughts about it, though. What did you put?

@ignore

A mano

de ninguna manera (it’s saying that you shouldn’t play in traffic)

Estara, because like Asax said, she will be asleep then.

The last advertisement question was geared towards people who have children. In the advertisement, the city was looking for people who raise children to they can start a daycare with them and pay them. So it was “Para los que tienen hijos” or something like that.
