October 2009 sat test discussion

I’m sure there was “less than 1000” = 666

Critical Reading was definately more of a challenge this time. I found myself narrowing the answers down to two and just guessing for some questions on the woman and art passage. I was hoping this was my experimental section but now I don’t know! Writing and math wasn’t bad though. The essay prompt was easy to write about. Now i just want to know my score!

“the woman and art” passage is not the experimental one.

So here’s the thing…
I had 4 Math Sections…

Just correct meif I m wrong

less than 1000 … 666
no. of diagonals…18
Scatter Plot …10x + 20 or 5x + 20?
P&C Color one…120
Area of triangle from tangents thing … 9

If these r correct m n 4 a 800 in MATH!!!

Now Critical reading…

Just say in any r wrong

slapstick
wry
polymath
diction or lexicon?
ward off or (incongruency…eliminate{DISEASE ONE})
euphemism or aspersion( I m sick nd Tired of being sick nd Tired)
degenerate or something else??
grounded in
…mention more guys if u remeber …WE mite be able 2 know our SC errors ryt here only!!!

Thnx …Writing was easy

@ ajdavid

Even I was confused about diction or lexicon! I chose lexicon, coz the question had something to do with diverse vocab.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired - I chose redundancy.
what was the vind velocity dry air answer? 20.5?
and the last grid in? 4.2?! (Please let it be 4.2!)

My expiremental was Writing… Hopefully it was the one with the poetry improving paragraphs question… it was too confusing!

The Gogol/Nikhil passage was easy, and the geologists one was way too tough!

1.I feel puzzled by the “mocking” “jeering” question. Can anybody tell me the full answer choices containing mock or jeer ones?
2.what is the question “usefulness in modern technology” about? Anybody remembers?
Thanx for help~

@ omgommm

Question: the lengths of solid is 2x 3x and 5x. what is the surface area?

I agree that was really ■■■■■■■■… I had to calculate it like 3-4 times to get the correct combination that was available in the answer choices… I chose 60.

WAIT!!! Everyone!!!

Didn’t we have to sign in the box that said we wouldn’t discuss the SAT questions? This is discussing the questions; isn’t this… illegal?

I felt really happy when I just finished the test yesterday, thinking I aced everything.

But now, I’m starting to get ****ed off discovering that I got this wrong and that wrong…

:( I hate this. I wanted to keep my excitement from yesterday until the time I find out my results!

@TJJunior,

After the embargo is lifted, we are allowed to talk about the SAT questions…just not the essay till the scores are out.

@collegegirl

Yea it was 20.5 for the velocity . And the last grid in was 4.01-4.99 (I like 90 % sure).

And for the grid in Math. The one about segments in a polygon. The answer was 9 correct???

The diagonals was definitely 9.

for the nikhil gogol passage, did he have an impulse guide him or did he just want to take extra classes?

to ajdavid:
I dont remember any area of 9, there was a 7.5 if we mean the same question.
Diagonals were 9, that’s right.

Lexicon is right.

Not euphemism, not aspersion, but redundancy.

to others: velocity - 20.5
“the last grid” - dunno, what was it about? If it was the value of y, it could be anthing between 4.01 to 4.99

surface of solid - 62 times second power of x

BTW there are threads specifically about Math/CR/writing

hey does anybody remember any of the questions following the women in the arts passage?

i feel like that was the only part that really gave me trouble

Just a quick question, it was my first SAT… Assuming one gets, say, 2 wrong in the Writing MC Section and 5 on the essay. What approximate score would that yield? And what about 2 wrong and 2 omitted in CR? Also our proctor mentioned something about “equivocating”, could anybody elaborate on that? I understand as a sort of normal distribution but perhaps I am wrong.

10 on essay, and 5 MC wrong is about 700 I think on WR.

2 wrong and 2 omit on CR is like 750 +

And I am not sure what your proctor said lol

how a/b the short passage that comes before Nikhil? The one that talked a/b Elizabeth and parents whatever… I completely lost track on that one, but I chose number 9 for “note a transformation” and 10 for “lack of amibiton”… Any ideas on that? That was the hardest passage on the test overall I believe…

^^

I got “Independence” and I left the other one blank

Independence was correct as was “explain a reaction”.

Does anybody remember the exact question of that probability problem that went SOMETHING Like this “You can pick 1/16 colors for the image and 1/8 of the same colors for the background but the two cannot be the same color. How many of these combinations are there?”…also what was the answer?
