OCTOBER 2009 Writing

I put down of which. - I wasn’t 100% sure tho

what was the question exactly? i think put down “elements of which” or “many of which” something like that. but which, definitely.

“Greek and Roman literature” I put singluar …crapp

was that experimental?

I would say so.

Does anyone else remember if the Greek and roman lit question was experimental?

No…I remember there was something like that for improving sentences. However, I don’t think I paid attention at all to whether it was singular or plural…I just remember that there was an appositive after the word “literature” and I somehow narrowed the answer choices down to something ending with “-ed” and “-ing”. I ended up going with the “-ed.” I had a math experimental btw.

Question 1: Is the Bees one “runs” because the story takes place in the past, so its supposed to be “ran”?

Question 2: What was the barthomelew one No Error. It cant be astonishes because it said “still” so its present

No, that Greek lit question was in the final 10 min section, so it wasn’t experimental…

Also, for the unplugging cell phone question, I’m pretty positive that there was a “you” because I specifically checked for it. And if “you” was in the sentence, then it has to be “just by”, right?

1321432–there was no error in the secret life of bees one, because you can talk about events in books in the present tense.

Personally, I’ve always been taught that one should discuss literature in the present, so I put no error.

I think it was “Just”. The sentence was something like, “____ unplugging your cellphone can save energy.”

Alright, so what was the answer for the greek lit question?

Sequoia:

for this question, I put either B or C because it needed “that.” There were two clauses and one needed “that.” so that the sentence would be coherent instead of a run on

isn’t singular? it said greek and roman lit IS blah blah blah. I assumed lit was the subject and greek and roman were just adjectives.

Hey!

For the seqouia question, did u guys get “extend”. Shouldn’t it be changed to extending. I saw someone earlier in this thread say the error was “grow” but I’m pretty sure “extend” was wrong.

Thanks

For the greek, roman literature, I put choice B. The original choice was a comma splice.

So the official 3 no errors were"

Set in ___, The secret life of bees

barthomelew

painting one…he knre the guy for so long…yet still surprised he bought the painting?

Sequoia:

I choice that “extend” because it should be “that extend.”

i got like 3 no errors, and i didn’t put no error for Bees.
I thought bartholemew was the painting one

for spot the error questions, what did you guys mark for the last one?

it went something like “Since he had little experience in sailing, it is up to the team, most of them were blahblahblah…”

Also, what was the error (if any) in the sentence having to do with lemons?

Sorry for being so vague but these two problems were really bugging me haha

No, when talking about a story, you use present tense…
