October 2010 ACT English Thread

it was “the”
and it was the one that elaborated on the father/son relationship…i’m pretty sure

^I dont believe that putting 1 word before “son” and "father diverts from the main focus

Wait what question are you talking about?

the music one about the son and father. I really think that the elaboration should be kept because it clarifies the type of music described

Well, yes, I get that it has a father and a son in it, but do you remember more specifically what it asked? The one I’m thinking of was one of those ones where you could change the sentence around (not just one word) but it would have diverted from the idea of the passage. But idk.

Oi, was the english section:

easy
moderate
hard

Ummmm, idk, I usually decided whether it should be kept or not before i read the answer choices so I dont get tricked by the other choice.

I’m pretty positive that it is awakened:
[Awaken | Define Awaken at Dictionary.com](<a href=“Awaken]Awaken Definition & Meaning | Dictionary.com”>Awaken Definition & Meaning | Dictionary.com)

a·wak·en
[uh-wey-kuhn] Show IPA
–verb (used with object), verb (used without object)
to awake; waken.

=> to be awakened

haha i love the arrogance on CC

Eagles For Life How you think you did?

I have no idea, getting that Celtic Mourn Question wrong really sucks!

I said it should be deleted…uh oh

on english im feeling a low 30
math def a 25-27
reading a 31-33
science a 30

darn -2 writing :[

its awakened im pretty sure

so why isn’t it ironic, and “not unintentionally” :[?

the passage indicated that they wanted the music to be different than the original one, so it was intentional, which is the same thing as “not unintentionally”

but you would say I was “shaken” by the events around me, not I was shook by the sounds around me…

yeah i put ironic because not unintentionally sounded soo bad

I thought the English section was so easy, so was the Reading…the math and science on the other hand…

Besides the “awakened” one, I think there were two others that had me grinding my teeth.
One was with the woodpeckers and something about which answer showed something about behavior.
Yeah…it’s a bit vague, but it’s hard to remember, haha.
One of the answers said something about inhaling dust, if that helps.
And for another, I don’t even remember the question, but I was debating whether the answer was “become” or something else.
Hmm, that’s even more vague…

I think I put inhaling dust.

i put inhaling dust because it asked for “specific details”

Oh good, that’s what I put!
But about that “become” one, I know I was confused because “become” is in present tense, but I felt that it should’ve been in past tense…but there was no “became.”
That’s all I remember…
