October 2010 ACT Reading Thread

it asked who called him conservative

it was the lady professor. cus it said “she said…”

i forget her name.

What about the question which had like transient expierence as an answer? what was the correct answer to that one?

yeah there was one that asked what the researcher concluded Dr. Stuart saw…

It was Dr. Buratti or something to that effect.

I put transient experience as the answer since earlier it referred to an asteroid as a transient experience. I’m not 100%, though. Another choice was micrometeorites

[A Flash From the Past: New Evidence Supports Moon Blast - New York Times](A Flash From the Past: New Evidence Supports Moon Blast - The New York Times)

as far as the loose/strict time part goes. IT IS LOOSE. Second to last paragraph begins with: Today’s roses. Last paragraph discusses roses from the 17th century. I know for a fact this is true.

The one w/the lady professor, what was the letter for the correct answer choice?

2 things I am worried about:

Brain metaphor: I think I put an aswer as “junk” ? Was that an answer? Its similar to attic so maybe I put attic

It was def. loosely chronological, no questions asked

I put: “the buyer was hiding his enthusiasm and narrator could see through it” ?? Which answer is that?

so that means that the conservative one was D, something about burlatti

I think it was micrometeorites. The first or second paragraph on the second column said something about that creating something bluish and the following paragraph said the crater was very blue at the crater.

@RAlec114 :

 1. I put junk
 2. loose
 3. I put negotiation. It was the one about the customer and the narrator in the radio passage right?

yes i put transient experience as well

Oh, I might have said this already, but I’m 99% sure that it is loose and 100% on attic.

I put that he saw through the hiding of emotions or w/e.

and i also put junk

attic??? CRAP! I remember reading about “cardboard folds” and it just sounded like junk. Damn it.

@WingsReborn : But didn’t it distinctly say in the passage that the customer did not seem like a collector because of his lack of distance and obvious show of eagerness?

100% sure it’s attic. it said it right after…lol

I put negotiation

popupblocker: I remember it said that collectors try to act disinterested. I think it also said that this guy was acting disinterested but the narrator saw through it.

The guy was very interested. The narrator said, in fact, that he was “pleading.” The answer, I’m quite sure, is negotiation.
