2. ummmmmmmm I want to say D but I’m not sure

@jlewis

thanks! :slight_smile: i think i bubbled in C and i heard that was the right answer but… that was a random bubble

and i randomly bubbled it in the last reading section :confused: hmmm…

oh yea i edited it my post and added some additional stuff, so if you could answer anything thatd be great :D

Sorry, I don’t remember culpable or which sections the sentences were in :/

instead of happiness being short-lived… why couldn’t have been his “happiness isn’t real”

he uses the analogy of a stolen toy…that doesn’t necessarily mean short-lived happiness… it’s not like it has to be returned. If he said borrowed toy that would’ve made sense. lol i know my explanation of the toy analogy sounds kinda pathetic…but we had to get our response directly from it.

I said his happiness wasn’t real, because it was “stolen.” It wasn’t his to begin with…he kinda was just pretending that he was happy. I was stuck between this and short-lived, but chose this in the end.

i think many kids would be happy with a stolen toy, especially if they don’t have to give it back. So that definitely isn’t the answer. As far as the happiness being short-lived, i agree that it’s not a PERFECT fit, but it is the best answer.

I understand where you’re coming from. I made such stupid mistakes. For example, i picked “inadequate” and changed it at the last second saying to myself, “Damn! I almost picked the wrong answer.” I changed it to “ambitious”. :frowning: :(

sigh, please let there be an amazing curve for this one. There were too many questions with “two possible answers” this time.

:(

You can’t “pretend” to be happy. You’re either happy, or you’re not. The difference in his case is that this happiness didn’t solve anything.

There is only one correct answer. The other one is WROONNNNGGG

Yes you can, its’ pretty easy actually.

Unfortunately, that is a sad, true statement.

judging from the article
[In search of the Trojan War - Google Books](<a href=“In Search of the Trojan War - Michael Wood - Google Books”>In Search of the Trojan War - Michael Wood - Google Books)

The question about thucydides derivations should be GREEK HISTORY

the passage states though WE CANNOT BE CERTAIN how much is his own intuition from observable remains (archeology) and deductions from Hoemric Tale, OR how much he derived from sources we do not have (historians disregard the fact that he may have gotten other sources; they didnt disregard that we are uncertain about archaelogoy / hoemric tale)
Thucydiides then considers the knowledge of seafaring in the Aegean, capital reserves coming into existence, and the gradual construction of walled cities…

clearly the seafaring/walled cities is evident in greek history… I think most people overlooked the key phrase that they were uncertain about his derivations from hoemric tale

I agree 100% with Iforgeteasily’s list . For the Trojan War Question, I feel like the answer is Probably happened. However, I could easily be wrong. I don’t feel like there was concrete evidence going one way or the other.

lol whoever said you can’t pretend to be happy…yeah im too lazy to go back to page 150 and check so sue me…LOL what perfect world are you living in?

Most people in this world pretend to be happy…because there will be nothing to live for otherwise.

I admitted short-lived makes sense anyways; I’m not gonna go start some heated debate lol. so no need to go “WRONGGGG” in someone’s face.

And sheesh people, who even knows if these ARE the right answers. The consolidated list…no matter how many people are supporting it, is never 100% guaranteed to be the list of answers.
Just waiting for Oct. 28 now. Until then, going to loosen up and stop coming back to this thread every hour haha.

I took the SAT on October in Singapore. Why my questions and passages did not match yours?

I’m blank on what the sentence to the answer “wasted” was, can you remind me? When I read it, I thought it was such a weird sentence because it seemed to say all of the space was ______, there was nothing in the room. So I put “unoccupied.”
I’m so close to -3 but so far because of this one question, help!!!

Is this CR test the same as the one on March 2008? I just find it hard to believe that CB would use 2 exact same tests.

@shell

The sentence was more along the lines of “No space was ________ in the shuttle; everything had a purpose.” (not exact, but conveys the meaning).

Can anyon recall the “retiring-penchant” sentence please? I can’t remember whether I put that.

^
it went something like this. i have enough down so that you get the gist of the sentence.

“although the journalist was __ in her social affairs, she had a ___ toward controversial issues”

@topramen

Please no more debate on this question. It’s pretty clear.
