October 2010 CR SAT Thread

Emphatic-5 balanced-3

There’s no need to keep an emphatic vs. balanced vote now. Especially after 160 pages of people arguing over it. I’ve actually read through all 160 pages since Saturday and I would say it’s about 70% emphatic 30% balanced, from what people are saying.

Why is there even an argument over the emphatic thing, it was referring to passage 1

I know right? Why they don’t believe us, I haven’t the foggiest clue.

That question has me pretty worried, lol… I read the emphatic/balanced question quickly and remember putting down balanced, and then going back and changing it after i realized I read the question wrong. Now I don’t know whether I read it right the first or second time :/

Haha I put sincere for that question. I guess I’m the only one who said that.

Well, actually, I put down sincere as well, because I had read emphatic as empathetic lol
But the correct answer is empathic.

At first I also read it as empathetic, but soon after reading how all the choices made no sense, then reread it and saw it was emphatic and then went “BINGO” in my head. lol

iforgeteasily, me toooo! TT
actually i put down ironic >_>

Why the heck are u voting if u didn’t even answer emphatic or balanced? Some picked emphatic even though they didn’t put that as the answer.

if the voting is continued i say change it to was the question referring to passage 1 vs passage 2 ;)

lol you make me speechless as to how irrational you can be just to try to prove your answer is correct. Of course I can say something is right even if I did not get it right on the test. Your logic just fails.

Lol, says the one who forgets easily. You can say anything, but ur answer doesn’t even have weight if u had a different opinion before u read what people said.

Wow… dude I stayed on this thread throughout the 160 pages of it and helped form the final consolidated list. I’m done arguing with you. The answer is emphatic. Period. Go cry in a corner now please.

for the movie critic passage,
what were the other choices for the question that asked “the purpose of the personal anecdote in lines__ was to” and what was the right answer i thought the answer was to introduce her opinion about writing or something

can anyone verify this?

for the rewilding passage,
-Passage 1 would think the last part of Passage 2 (the suggestions about what to
do with the money) was inadequate. author of passage 1 disagrees with the solutions offered by passage 2’s author. passage 1 believes in rewilding, whereas passsage 2 believes its efforts should be spent elsewhere
what were the other choices for this question?

-Last part of passage 2 - suggesting alternatives. other choices?

-both authors took positions on a possible plan of action author 1 focused on rewilding, author 2 was the opposite and also proposed alternative solutions
other choices?

U can’t trust what people are saying if they’re simply guesstimating. In fact, it could just be the same people shouting out “emphatic”

Lol, that answer on the consolidated list is still in disagreement. I guess I know now who put emphatic on the list.

No one here is “guesstimating”. For one, the reason I didn’t pick emphatic in the test was because, as I had previously mentioned, I misread it as “empathetic”. The moment I saw that it was emphatic, I had no doubt it was the right answer. Instead of trying to ■■■■■ me, why don’t you use the “search this thread” function to look for about a thousand posts explaining why emphatic is the correct answer. Now go cry in a corner.

I will concede however that you are a good ■■■■■. Good job.

Seriously stop trying to justify and rationalize wrong answers to make yourself feel better. This is why there is so much controversy because no one wants to believe they are actually wrong.

Yes exactly. I would only say the probably/probably not question is deserving of controversy - nothing else.
