October 2010 CR SAT Thread

what were the other choices in the circumspect erroneously question about the scientists in the vocab section. i dont remember what answer i put.

-5 and 1 omit

any guesses on what that will be?

@ diboy2 just because i didnt mark the right answer doesn’t mean i dont have the rational to accept the fact that i got it wrong and see WHY another answer might be right. .___.‘’

What other choices were there for the
“retiring…penchant” one?
It went like
“although the journalist was _____ in her social affair, she had a ______ toward controversial issues”

jlewis , that should be about 720 or 730 on an average test , but i think for this test it might be a 740

It’s hard to agree if the basis is on which passage it is. I am also ending this argument. Its just the same people posting in ur 1000 posts. We’ll see who’s right on the 28th. :)

Alright so I know I’m wrong about the mother talking to the daughter showing conviction. I put concession because it seemed to be like the mom was using a tone that sounded more like “yea it sucks moving but hey your going to get a great education in America”. So could someone please explain to me conviction?

@ apple

it is conviction b/c she knows they are moving for a reason, and this is herbelief that hte daughete will get a good educaytion

sry for the spelling

what were the other choices of the circumspect erroneously question???

^you picked an accurate CC screenname

What were the other choices for “retiring…penchant”?

@linger what makes you think all of your answers are right? There are several questions that are split close to 50-50 on a site filled with people who score very well. There are a few questions we just don’t know the answer to, there will never be a consensus, but that doesn’t mean we can’t explain why we picked or didn’t pick certain answers.

Actually, pretty much for all questions except trojan war existence question, a consensus has been reached in a certain thread where only people >2300 were asked to comment.

How do we know they were telling the truth about their scores? I know people who have lied on CC, I admit I’m no 2300 level brain but it doesn’t take one to realize lying on this site is fairly easy. All I’m saying is that there is a certain level of ambiguity to a few of these questions, it just seems stubborn to close your mind the possibility that you may be wrong and assume that everyone is just justifying incorrect answers. When as many people have argued for as many answers as there have been on this CR there has to be at least some level of credence to it.

Actually, its just same people repeating their protests over and over again. They also use this same argument against the accepted answers, that it was some small group of people who decided what the accepted answers were. Unfortunately for them, this is not the case. A large enough majority at the initial debate reached consensus and thus the answers were consolidated. Now, most of the people in this majority don’t comment about it afterward because the answers have already been accepted as true. But it’s those persistent dissenters (I think I’ve been arguing with same 4~6 people for ages) who keep posting and posting, asking why why why why why why why why why.

Not only, in most of the questions there is almost no ambiguity if you listen to what we are saying. But the dissenters don’t listen at all. I try to keep on responding to them so that the thread is not filled with wrong answers - I don’t think others bother anymore.

@hotpotato

I actually don’t think all my answers are right. In fact I’ve come to realize that several of my answers were actually wrong. I do agree that same do have some ambiguity but I believe a lot of people are really just not even opening their mind to the possibility that they could be wrong.

I’m just speaking for myself, but just to clarify I’m just explaining my rationale on questions that are accepted as at least somewhat ambiguous. I’m not sure I’m right, but the answers make sense to me.

or the movie critic passage,
what were the other choices for the question that asked “the purpose of the personal anecdote in lines__ was to” and what was the right answer i thought the answer was to introduce her opinion about writing or something

can anyone verify this?

for the rewilding passage,
-Passage 1 would think the last part of Passage 2 (the suggestions about what to
do with the money) was inadequate. author of passage 1 disagrees with the solutions offered by passage 2’s author. passage 1 believes in rewilding, whereas passsage 2 believes its efforts should be spent elsewhere
what were the other choices for this question?

-Last part of passage 2 - suggesting alternatives. other choices?

-both authors took positions on a possible plan of action author 1 focused on rewilding, author 2 was the opposite and also proposed alternative solutions
other choices?

For traverse and wealth, I have no idea what the sentence was…
Can anyone please explain the setence or any idea?

concession to rebuttal…
what was the question for this answer?
