October 2010 CR SAT Thread

are you saying people in ancient times couldn’t investigate ruins just because they came from the same time period?

…

I think one of the vocabulary question’s answer began with diffident instead of retiring. Both diffident and retiring fit the first blank but the second word was what made me choose diffident.

did anyone say sth like “a child imitates adults in order to impress his peers” intead of the ice skater trying to fluster other skaters?:(

okay the homer one makes sense. BUt the antidote one doesnt make full sense yet.

Does anyone know if we can find the passage online? The sentence that it referred to said that it resulted in his blood flowing again. It talked about anger somewhere else.

10char10char

I hope so!

The log road had a therapeutic effect on the boy. Only an antidote deals with soothing. It’s 100% antidote. I got a 2320 last time and I know what I’m talking about.

yes it did.

she was retiring personally but had a penchant for raunchy affairs in the news

Also about the homer question. That brief paragraph was Thudlydies talking-correcT? In the first sentence he explicitly talked about walls/the unification.

for the “main point” of the two articles about Federal media, I’m pretty sure it is the answer in which the “2nd one discusses or explains a situation” as it didn’t really talk about conflicting sides.

woojaekeem,

Half of the answers your arguing for are incorrect. Please try to be reasonable here.

Does anyone remember all the answer choices for the Oscar Wilde quote about piano playing in the film critic passage?

First one was about artist made biography with factual errors, second was about poem read by a novelist. I can’t remember 3rd, fourth, or 5th, but for some reason i picked the 3rd one last-minute. What was the 3rd choice?

Also, does anyone remember a sentence completion about The scientist ----- some institution to give her grants so that she could ----- the cost of research?
I was debating between persuade … something and inspire… something. (this could’ve been experimental)

Also what did people put for the last question of the trojan war one? i can’t remember the question. was it celebrated events are not verified?

what was the answer to question that referred to the little parapgrapgh written by Thudlyies?

I have no idea how people think it’s stimulant. The log whatever helped him resolve his angers, cool his temper. It is a cure, an antidote, for his temper and composure.

A stimulant gets you more pumped, while the log whatever cooled him.

Also, for the simile at the end (with the children’s toy) is it confirmed as “it would disappear soon / short lived” and not the “being alone” one?
Anyone get diffidence for an answer?

the “antidote” one meant that he used the log trail to quell his anger, confusion, and emptiness. only THEN was he happy.

as for the “inevitable” one, why couldn’t it be “undesirable”? i thought the whole point of the first passage was that the “default scenario” DIDN’T have to be inevitable, and that we could act now in order to preserve future generations of wildlife and steer away from the fated course.

@Linger yeah i would like to know that too

the second passage DID talk about conflicting sides. it mentioned, “some believe PBS is well enough established by now that it doesn’t need to rely on taxpayer money anymore…others believe we should still support a source of diverse, cultural news”

@Harambee et all:

The full answer for colloquial was “colloquial expressions” (or was it ‘experience’)

Completely agree with snoopi. It should be inevitable.
I sort of took a break from this…did anyone reach a consensus on what Thucydides relied on for writing about the Trojan war? I put Homer and was pretty sure about it, but after all that archaeology stuff I’ve become more divided.
Also, YES, diffident! I put diffident but idk which one is the write answer because IMO both can be right.

^ snoopi is right and full of win. **** his d
