October 2010 CR SAT Thread

Yeah but if self-effacing is in the sentence that means they are looking for the synonym of self-effacing which is diffident. Diffident means restrained or reserved in manner, conduct, but then she showed great aversion which means a strong feeling of dislike, opposition, repugnance, or antipathy. Thus diffident has to be the opposite because having feelings of aversion is the opposite of being diffident.

someone confirm the desert vocab question involving elephants…( _______ … thriving) ?

@snoopi: Gah, I see your point. I just don’t like admitting that I got things wrong because I already have 2 wrong including diffident and I really can’t afford to get anything else wrong.

There’s usually a few questions in a CR section that will cause debate because of the wording. In my opinion, I think this section was medium, perhaps medium-hard.

I got thriving.

How about the question involving proxy species or something?
Also the question about putting certain animals to replace the extinct animals would disrupt the ecosystems…?

What were other answer choices for the following?

Rewilding:
Something about the cheetah in P1 and mammoth in P2 - both are extinct.
The situation with the camel in rewilding - unable to live in the nonnative environment.
Concession leading to rebuttal

Movie critic:
Something about colloquial

For the Oscar Wilde one, I thought he wasn’t saying the playing could be incorrect, but that playing everything right was not enough, it also needed to be played with style… so that’s why I decided not to pick the biography one. Does anyone remember the other choices?

@ Light. is that question about the concerns of conservationist? That one was “well-founded” i guess.

Oscar Wilde was it the character who wrote a poem in a novel?
