October 2010 CR SAT Thread

Depending on what factors Harembee?

What was the answer for the spray/paint sentence completion question:
medium/captivate OR motif/compel

what would -4 be?

I predict 760. I doubt it goes lower than 750.

hi, can anyone expain why movie critic " passage suggest there was disagreement over her work"
And maybe what the answer choices were? i think i put “not objectively valued?” or sth like that.

For “thucidides based most of his work from Homer” I disagreed… Yes he did write from homer but werent the archeological finds (namely the walls) more important? Because he does go into that whole analysis paragraph about it… I don’t know I had it narrowed down to those two

So far I have -5  Lets keep it at that exactly and Ill be a happy camper!

3 of which are sc’s :(

Spray paint was medium/captivate.

@everlast- I also had objectively something or other.
@angelin - I also had archaeological. I’m pretty sure of this one too.

For Movie Critic, I thought the personal anecdote was to introduce something. or am i thinking of another question? o.o

I also had the objectively one but Im pretty sure its wrong

“Probably did occur because there was no evidence against it”

^-- Is this confirmed? I don’t remember the passage stating that there was no evidence against it. I do, however, remember reading in multiple areas that there was no documentation/proof that it did occur. I put ‘probably not because there was not documentation’.

Was one of the sentence completion one WASTED

no space had been wasted because everything had a purpose

Yeah there was, it was in the last paragraph.

Yes, Linger, I can confirm wasted.

Also, can somebody explain the context of the traversing… wealth SC? Like the question itself and a few of the other choices???

What was the disagreement? The only mention in the passage of the critic’s reception is about others criticizing her for being stylistic, an opinion which is subjective because they did not understand the critic and her methods. It didn’t mention people receiving her positively at all.

what was the downplay magnitude sentence completion, i don’t remember that one

@everlastingx: Because the author clearly stated that the movie critic had detractors, while he himself was praising her.
@angelin: I chose Homer. My logic was that even though both were mentioned, archaeological was mentioned only once, whereas homer was mentioned multiple times when referring to thucidides and his work.

It was something like: Nomads, herders, other people, etc. — through the area over the years have accumulated a — of artififacts.

That’s not the exact wording, but it’s close enough for you to get an idea. I forget the other choices.

Can anybody remember the question with sc and the answer being thriving and the other choices?
