October 2010 CR SAT Thread

Um, I’ve been an ESL student for two years of high school. I came to the US from a non-English speaking country.

It’s about seeing a challenge, and working hard to surpass it. You being ESL is a challenge. You had all the time in the world to improve your English and practice; you didn’t.

I DIDNT LOL???
u r mistaken!!! i use to study for more than 8hs a day and i remebered a thousands of words ive been in the US for only 2 years!!!
it aint my fault!

You can explain that circumstance to admissions officers on your college applications.

so wat they gonna do??
NOTHING!!! THEY DONT EVEN CARE!!

ehhhhh, can anyone answer my question on the last page? =.=. This stands between my 800 and 760 due to one more wrong !

SAT crit takes hard work
i’ve done over 25 full length tests over the summer, and only recently have i been in the 0-2 miss range for CR

Some guy mentioned a question about Rosa and her daughter or something where the answer choices included “adopts” and “undertakes” etc.
I think ive seen those words. Anyone remember what the question and the passage was?

ummmm. i was just wondering if the answer to the “artful/ artistic biography thing” was choice B? does anyone remember?

@ icedcoffee
i think your argument is valid, but i took it a different way i guess
an imbalance of power would benefit the more powerful (greek alliance) still over the less powerful (either conquered peoples fighting the trojans or the trojans themselves)
if you are saying that the people were not coerced to fight and were not taken advantage of, then that would mean they have national pride, so it would not be misconstrued as fear. so i think they were at a disadvantage to those with more power.

reconciliating…enmity

retiring…penchant

wasted

Also, did anyone put “face” before challenge blahblahblah…?

The author of passage 2 suggested an alternative plan rather than rewilding.

@andyjo
it was A

@seung

 1. I think that had to do with two friends and they couldn’t make up with each other.
 2. “The journalist was retiring in her personal affairs but had a penchant for drama in her columns.”
 3. There was wasted space since all of the area was taken up. The wording isn’t even close, I think it was the first question of a section.
 4. No clue what you’re talking about.

@awdrygjil
i concur. the only problem with the “consolidated lists’s” choice is the latter half, at the expense of the weak

LOL holy crap, does anyone remember the choices to number 3 that boston said above? bcz shouldn’t a taken up space be occupied and used?

I meant NO wasted space. My b.

I don’t remember number 32 on the consolidated list…
Can you more accurately say what the question was?

100%, but its not just on the cons. list, my problem with the question was that it included that phrase at the end “at the expense” or disadvantage or something…but national pride did not seem right enough to put
this is why i like math :]

Thanks boston1993,

 1. do u remember any other choice that seems to be possible too?
 2. It was the very first question of either the 2nd or 3rd reading section (excluding the experimental one)… There were two blanks and one of them was before “challenge”: so, (blank) challenge… Do you happen to remember this?? lol

“I DIDNT LOL???

it aint my fault!”

Was there Internet in your home country? Was there TV? Was English a school subject? I’m sure you had infinite opportunities, I mean, you’re sitting in front of a computer and Internet right now.
