It was nature of writing, because she was talking about writing and how when you sit down to write you dont have it all thought out but when you get up from your desk you do.

I too, put it reveals something about the author’s character.

The question was referring to a story in which a critic was talking about the ‘main character Kael’, how she would says she does all her thinking with a pen, or something along those lines.

Was that the choice with introduction? “An introduction to the author’s character”?

Reveals author’s character, nature of writing, serves as introduction, etc are all ONE QUESTION. It was the one where they gave you an anecdote and asked you what its purpose was. Though still debated, I believe the answer was introduction to something something, becuase the anecdote led right into the deep discussion about writing. In the anecdote, it says along the lines of “it was a joke, but it showed something”. Seriously, if it was supposed to reveal nature of writing or whatever, do you think it was so vague like that? Reveal author’s character? that is just ridiculous. Serving as introduction makes sense and is just the type of question collegeboard would ask.

edit: ALSO, they only asked about the ANECDOTE, not the stuff that followed. Only the anecdote part. ONLY.

No, not an introduction to the author’s character.

It said something like an anecdote to reveal the author’s character.

wouldn’t it be random to talk about the relationship in a paragraph about the nature of writing. it just doesn’t sseem logical

Does anyone have the actual text? I saw it posted here yesterday.

I think reveals something about the author’s character makes the most sense. They weren’t explicitly talking about what the author thinks about writing style.

@aptester but then the author is the person writing the passage and NOT KAEL

Someone update the consolidated list ??

I think it was the introduction, because it did say “but it revealed something”. And that “but” shows a shift, like a new topic.

How can we be sure that they were talking about the author of the passage and not Kael? I interpreted it as if they were talking about Kael, the author.

I’m still thinking that it was diffident aversion because self effacing was in the sentence; however, I can definitely see how retiring penchant could work. After taking around 20+ previously administered tests, I can say from experience that this CR section was one of the hardest ones due to the vocab and difficulty of the passages especially the critic one and the short passage one about the guy going up the mountain. However, even though the test was on the harder side, in recent years, the CB has stopped assigning a raw score of a 64 to an 800.

Realistic Curve IMO (the number on the side is the number of raw score points lost not the number of questions wrong)
