October 2011 - Physics Discussion

Okay, USA is still going, so if you want to discuss post in this thread and you can PM other members.

Maybe post your expected scores also so people have a good idea who they should PM to ask.

I'm expecting: 780-800

If you can remember any of the hard questions, PM me and we'll discuss

Well whenever we’re allowed to start discussing–can someone tell me how to do q 5 and 6? I forgot what they were about but I remember I wasn’t sure about them.

Pmed sheldon.

How did everyone think they did?

I died. Cannot believe that after 3 years of physics I forgot like everything and had to randomly guess on like 20 questions

It wasn’t that bad, but I didn’t focus much on modern physics and whatnot, so there were some tough cookies for me. I studied with Kaplan, but the actual test was itsy bit harder than the practice tests I had. Basic concepts and equation questions were thuper easy though.

I’m 1000% sure I BOMBEDDDD physics. -_____-

California is done with the test.

Had 7 omitted by end of the test, decided to look back and make educated guess for 5 of them.

What’s the curve for 800? Realistically.

Skipped 6, corrected 2 so total of omit 4 and education guess on like 30. I know I missed one for sure (Snell not Carnot). It didn’t feel like there were a lot of mechanics problems on the test, which is what I was studying, so I probably got scraped.

The curve is usually something like 10 wrong or a little more, if I’m not mistaken. Most people don’t do well/run out of time on the Physics test.

^ 15 to 16 off your raw score, from the official CB guide. I know I botched it, so I’m counting on a good curve.

Definitely not enough time. That was nerve wracking. I was going pretty steady and well and then I looked up at the clock and panicked and just rushed through the rest of my answers. I’m a person that likes to double/triple check on math-related stuff. Not good for timed tests. I’m hoping to hit 750+, but realistically it’ll probably be between 700 and 750.

It was definitely easier than the Sparknotes tests, and kind of like the PR ones (easier too.)

My gut feels good about the results.

It’s weird, I found it much easier than the Sparknotes test and Barron’s test as well, but I found it much more limiting in terms of time. With sparknotes, I had about 15 minutes to spare. With this, I had to rush myself just to finish up on time. The content was definitely easier though.

I also thought the same thing, with sparknotes time ran slower, lol

Barron’s practice tests were a joke compared to this.

I thought the test was much easier than Barron’s and Sparknotes but some questions threw me off. But 15 off your raw score for 800!? Really? So a 60/75? I thought the sparknotes curve was like 66/75.

I thought the sparknotes tests were easier…so were PRs. Idk how well I did. Ended up skipping 6. I felt like the questions were different from what I encountered on sparknotes and PRs practice tests.

Mechanics was way easier in the test than in sparknotes, everything else was pretty much the same, except for sound, which was harder on the test

Why is this thread not active at all?

I totally ran out of time and omitted 12 of them. I probably got a few wrong, too. That test was hard.

I’m guessing not a lot of people took physics? What’d everyone get for the second to last problem? It was a drawing of a conductor I think and was asking where the electric field is strongest with regards to the 5 dots right outside the conductor? Or something along those lines
