Thanks, math4bap! The GC gave him the paper copy today during last period…

Disney - can you post the scores for each section and how many were missed and omitted in each section?

Big congratulations. I can’t wait to hear more results from our talented juniors.

What a great score! Congratulations. We are also from NJ but no word yet.

disneydebk - Wow!!! great score!! National Merit Scholarship competition, here you come!! We are from NJ as well, so I think I’ll just give a shout out to GC tomorrow and see if she has scores by any chance… Last year I seem to remember the kids’ scores coming in the mail in early December…

This is a big month for hearing back. Husband waiting on two job apps, DS '14 waiting on PSAT and the October SAT (scores available on Dec 20) and DS’13 awaiting his big ED decision!

Thanks, Everyone! It is a very exciting time…Good Luck to all of the kids!

DS got an 80 on Math (0 wrong) and an 80 on the Writing (0 wrong). He got a 66 on the Reading, which was 7 wrong. Thank goodness he only got 3 wrong on that part of the 11/3 SAT for a 760 and then 800 M and 800 W…

Congratulations disneydebk!!

We can access last years scores but don’t have the code for 2012 scores. The 2012 scores do not become accessible without the code until January, giving the GCs time to hold them hostage and release them at a date they see fit (unless you can convince them otherwise). I love our GC but she’s stuck with department policy and we’ll be waiting until January. It’s a toss up wether the GC releases the code before the scores are available without them.

Nice job Disney

Bad news is that the CR curve is the worst I have ever seen dating back to 2004.

@micawber

Where are you getting your facts? I looked at the curves and based on his raw score of 39 → 66, that’s pretty consistent with other years. I hope you can refute your claim.

^Pirate is right. Micawber might have forgotten to subtract 2 more points for guessing penalty. Also I was wondering if Disney son PSAT Wednesday or Saturday.

He took the Wednesday PSAT…

@mramadan

In fact, I would consider the curve normal. It’s how it usually is.

I may have overstated it but I think the raw score on 7 wrong is 40. You do not lose another point until you get the 8th question wrong. Do you agree with this? A 66 is pretty tough if I am right. There are only a couple of years, going back to 2004, that are equally as stiff.

7 wrong would equate to 1.75 penalty (in addition to not getting 7 points for getting them right)

For comparison, my D data last two years in CR:

2011 - 71 (43 right/5 wrong/0 omitted)
2010 - 64 (40 right/8 wrong/0 omitted)

Agreed. So you subtract 8. The .75 is ignored.

can u post the percentiles for each score? like if i missed 1 wht would i get in each category and onwards? thanks

I don’t know… Last year she also got 71 in writing, but only had 2 wrong/0 omitted…

For clarification, 7 wrong will result in a raw score of 39 because 41 (correct answers)-1.75 (penalty)= 39.25, then approximated down (unfortunately) to 39

Greetings from Texas, I was wondering if any of you had any idea what to expect for this year’s bottom line National Merit Scholarship qualifying score? I don’t know if it is out yet (I’m assuming not) and I had heard that the qualification score was on the way up. Can any one confirm this?

the qualification score is on the way up for natl commended?
