I picked transcendentalism for that one. *** was the Spanish one?

I thick it was Pershing’s pursuit of Vera Cruz

Ugh I omitted that one last second

What did you guys put for that Duke Ellington question? I was between “ragtime and jazz” and “sound for the first movies” and eventually put movies.

Also, what did you put for that Clinton question? I put healthcare but wasn’t sure. Other choices include NAFTA and a more diverse cabinet.

Ellington was jazz, Clinton was health care

Thanks, JaJa ;)

May I ask folks who took the test in U.S. History in October what they feel is the most useful way to prepare for the exam? Any particular review books? Anything to focus on in studying?

If I want to do PreMed, is it worth doing the US History subject test?

@rowerruns:
DO NOT BUY KAPLAN. I repeat, DO NOT BUY KAPLAN. Honestly, the best book to use is Amsco. Without a doubt, it’s Amsco (or Barron’s). It’s designed for APUSH, but I feel like the questions were very similar between the 2 tests. Stay away from books like Princeton Review or Kaplan.

For any program, you want to show well-roundedness in your SAT tests. That’s why people recommend you take 3 tests for top-tier colleges. Take the MC2, 1 science, and a social like USH or World.

Nope, buy AMSCO. I swear to God Barrons sucks the platypus *****.

This test was definitely harder than the practice tests found on collegeboard or TPR. Harder than AP amsco even.

@minnan and @CollegeBoardJaJa

I am not in AP US. Are you saying that I should study AP review books instead of SAT ones? Though, focus on AMSCO?

Yes. Studying for the AP exam will help you get 750+. Just read the AMSCO book and you’ll be fine (know the book well though).

AP materials and SAT 2 materials for USH are basically the same. Don’t be put off by “AP” word on the title of book. I am not in AP either and I still studied Amsco. It’s easier to understand than Barrons SAT USH even.

I don’t like barrons at all.

Totally agree. Don’t EVER try Kaplan. I know there are threads saying how perfect that book is, but Kaplan’s just too general. any AP US History prep could work; sparknotes and US History in a flash are okay. I spent one and a half month on Kaplan, and it was not even close to what I got from reading AMSCO for a week. The practice tests are bad as well. AMSCO chapter questions match the actual tests more.
