October 2014 ACT discussion thread

@oavcech We get the the composite score first. I got my writing scores about 3 days later. I got my September composite score about 5 weeks after the test. I took my test in an international test center.

I hope those score predictions are right and my sons predictions of how many he had wrong are right … if so he will have 30. Fingers crossed!! He has been stuck at 27 the last 2 tests.

Guess my score?
English: -6 0r -7
Math: -0 or -1
Reading: -8 to -10
Science: -8ish

Dear sooners375,

Here are your scores, in my opinion.

English: 30-31
Math: 36
Reading: 27 - 29
Science: 27 - 28

@Hark123 I know that… I am talking about a different website which allowed you to pull up your ACT scores early with your test id. You could view them a few days earlier with it once your status changed to “tested”.

@Zed456‌ I don’t think there’s a site where you can look up your scores earlier…

were there really 2 conflicting scientist passages ? I thought there was only one and the other

there were at least two 7-question passages

Do you guys read the passages on the science test? I normally don’t, but I probably should have for this test.

Wait, so when are scores expected to come out?

Nov. 11th. Although they may be posted later. When I took the September ACT I recieved my scores about 4 days after the first date listed but most people I know got them that day, so it’s likely that you’ll get your scores on Nov. 11th.

@Hark123 There is. Here is an old thread about one way it use to be done: <a href=“Get your ACT Scores now! - ACT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1395013-get-your-act-scores-now.html</a></p>

It was like this however someone took the “bug” in the site and made a website to do it for you.

It is…curves on the sections are higher to reflect that. There is always one section that is harder than any other ACT. Sept was math and Oct was science…so brace yourselves for english/reading for this coming Dec ACT…my last one…

I really hope I can get atleast a 27 on reading. I haven’t gotten higher than a 23 on it the first 2 times but yet I can get a 700 on sat reading?! doesn’t make sense to me. Also I will be so utterly irritated if I got less than a 36 on the math score. That was by far the easier math test, either sat or act, I have ever taken in my life. Science almost made me gouge my eyes out though haha it was impossible.

@sooners375‌ What did you guys find most difficult about the science? Personally I though it was exceptionally easy and Iv’e taken the ACT 4 times. It was only the last passage in the science that I thought was a little hard.

^There were a lot of knowledge-based questions. 4 or 5 to be exact. I’d give examples, but I’m not allowed. But a fairly knowledgeable person (that is, paying attention in your classes and having better retention than an crayon) should have been able to eliminate some of the options and answer 2 of them correctly The others were a bit arcane, and I could not find them in the provided info

Yeah I don’t know why but I thought the science was really easy like usually it’s my worst section because science is the only subject that I don’t take advanced classes in and my highest in science has been a 27 which is my lowest score out of all 4 sections so I don’t know why I thought this act was easier in the science section there were a few that were like uh what ha but the rest I could figure out with the data so idk!!!

@JSSMIT I just thought it was really hard, and I got a 31 or 32 on science in june. This time around i was running out of time where in june i finished early. And also, what i do is read the question and then look for the answer in the passage but i failed to find many answers in the passages. I don’t have time to read the passage beforehand and use logic so i have to use my skim method.

@hawkeye295 I am so glad I am not the only one who couldnt find the answers in the passage.

Why is this wait so long
