October 2014 ACT discussion thread

To be honest if the science never existed I could rest easy.

I really think ACT is going to have a generous curve on science. It’s the first time they are changing the format. It’s not fair for all the October test taker to have the difficult one.

So are scores gonna be out at midnight or what?

@austin23 i think that would be around 34 34 30 33

I think so, probably 1 am for eastern time

I really hope you guys are right. I think we may see a curve like the December science last year where -4 was still a 34.

^that test was harder though. I took that one and that science was pretty bad

it was the usual format, but ugh they were difficult…

I don’t think ACT meant to screw us up.

How much harder was it hawkeye?

Goal: 32+
Expected:29-30

The first time I tested with little prep was 29 but after a month and a half of prep it was still pretty much the same. Ughh… But I think I did better on the previous SAT…Have to wait a few more weeks for those to come out.

Do you think we may see a generous curve because of the change in format? Science really has me worried.

well to put it nicely: I scored 30+ in all the other sections and in science… I got a 25 lol (big decrease)

I had to guess on the entire conflicting viewpoints because I spent too long on the others. This test was a bit harder Ill admit, but not as bad as the December one

I really hope that the science curve is generous, because I actually feel that I did well on that one, whereas my math is rusty and I really need to work on dusting off the ol’ geometry knowledge, taking trig this year should also help with a few questions.

I hesitate to make any prediction, as I know I could be wildly off, and I think I made one already ( :stuck_out_tongue: ) but I would say something like this:

English -1 to -4
Math -5 to -15 (Guessed more than a few times)
Reading -0 to -4
Science -2 to -5

Not sure what that amounts to, and as you can tell there is a wide discrepancy. I hope very much that my estimates are closer to the more generous end.

Goal for this ACT was a 32, and eventually I hope to get a 34.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure that everyone in Texas does not have the October ACT marked as “tested”

@Yangster97 My son status changed to “Tested” today. Took test in TX.

Goal: 34
Expected: 29-32

It was my first time and I did minimal prep so I’m not expecting too much. Besides, I feel like it won’t surpass my SAT score so I’m not really invested in this score. I am not even nervous. Science was a dagger though. :frowning:

Goal 32-33
Probably got a 30-31 because my last score was a 30 but if I got lower than my last score man I’ll be so upset this is my last act and it would’ve just been a waste of money and studying

Weird cuz I’m an international student (Korea) but my status changed to ‘tested’. It took extra 2 weeks in September.

What do you guys think -7 will be on math?

31 (normal)
32 (good curve)
