@ffina23 you must check your school’s portal to see if your scores were received. ACT does not send an notice when they are sent.
I GOT A 35 ON WRITING!!! 12/10/12/12 OMGGG
Great job MAS9797. Congrats
Can you share what your essay was like so we can learn from it.
I have no idea how that happened, honestly…I did fill up all the pages, though (there were 4/5 pages, I think?)
I started off by generally introducing the topic, and then I discussed each perspective separately and gave an example to show what each one missed. Like I would discuss the first perspective, give an example, and then relate it to another perspective which might have completed or completely opposed what the first perspective missed. In doing so, I related all three perspectives to each other. I think only one of the examples I gave was literary…The rest were all just based on ideological questions that kind of served to prove another perspectives wrong as I transitioned from one to the other. After that, I dedicated a paragraph to stating my own perspective on the matter and compared it to the perspectives given. My conclusion was horrible, though, because I ran out of time lol.
I wrote in third-person objective and my language was kind of pretentious lmao.
That’s all I can remember - hope it helps!
@MAS9797 what’s third person objective? “one” ?
Another perspective****
@leonardo2020 yeah, so I minimized the use of the first-person “I.”
UGH my writing score is driving me crazy!!! My composite suites all my schools on my list, along with reaches, but that writing score… im afraid its gonna screw me over

@HereToHelpYou
My essay was really long. I did not use outside sources, maybe some did.
I just thoroughly explained my perspective (perspective 1), used rhetorical strategies (questions, repetition, etc), and a lot of logic. I didn’t prepare for it at all, so I went in blindly.
@jjohnross I got a 32 composite (32.25) and a 23 on the writing ;( …I feel your pain
I got a composite 34 and a writing score of 29
should I retake the ACT (I want to apply to dual degree programs and as of now my gpa is p solid)
Thanks @zeppelins
yeah 34 composite 23 writing lol ACT you’re humor =(( :((
And I hate to sound like the doom and gloom monk through the streets of foggy London…but S has still not received any scores (though we did get a form letter from ACT telling us that they have until December so back off
No scores for my son too! I still don’t understand why his computerized scores are not in yet! He is taking the ACT in December, it sure would be nice to see which areas he needs to work on. I’m glad he is a Junior!
@SouthernHope @amazondotmom ditto…no scores for my son yet… He is regd for Dec as well… Just wondering if any scores were posted today ?
Is there any way to “protest” (for lack of a better word) your score on the Essay? I feel a 23 is wholly unfair—especially considering a 35 in both English and reading on the very same ACT—and would like to challenge this score to enable my score to remain competitive. It seems many people are scoring extraordinary low—not so much a reflection of their abilities as a reflection of the distinct disadvantage that this new ACT Essay format has put students at.
@Real4name, my son got his essay writing score this morning. He got his composite score last week.
I got 30 composite 36 writng
got 36 composite 32 writing
