October 9 SAT Reasoning - Discussion Thread

Alright guys, its less than a month now! Please post any comments/questions/advice for our fellow exam takers here :)

Its always good to recommend to practice guides! I have been studying all summer and mys core went up 100 points from the official sat study guide! Can anyone help me with how can i improve mys core more ? currently at 1700 and want to reach 2000!

You should improve your weakest section or the section you think you can improve the most on

omg i’m nervous…can someone help me?!

@hhyy365 Is it your first time taking it ? Whats your goal ?

Previous attempt 1700/2400
Goal for oct 9: 2100

Yeah, I’m nervous too. I’m worried that anxiety will kill my concentration and make me bomb the CR and Writing sections. Most likely, I’ll get less than 7 hours of sleep the night before and force myself to drink a few cans of Red Bull before the test and during breaks. I’ll have to bring a good luck charm or something… This is literally my last chance to get a 2250+.

@R3d3mpti0n i tell you you should get some sleep the night before! anyhow ! gosh writing and CR will kill me! especially CR! :frowning:

any tips on CR ? like how to attempt it! this is what i do I look at all questions first and then mark the line references on the passages then read the passages and answer line reference questions first. my CR score is 500 :frowning: need at least 700 :frowning: HELP!

im fairly nervous, considering that this is my last chance, but I dont really get anxiety on test days… My last official score was 2120, I hope to score a 2300 +.

omg ! please provide how you get such high marks! what are your strategies for CR ?

i have taken so many external exams (O and A level xamz) that i hardly get nervous
so i would suggest u guys take practice tests under timed conditions
ask your sibling to be your proctor

anyways, CR is a problem for me
am scoring in 600s… Any tips?

CR looks like a problem for everyone! if the other two areas are strong for you! then all the days that are left before the exam do hardcore drills on CR!

here are my scores on the 10 BB2 tests: 2400, 2390, 2400, 2390, 2400, 2400, 2400, 2390, 2400, 2400
im doing fine so far, just need more practice tests.

@salzahrah

^^ what strategies are you using for CR!!! that is where most are weak at! please do tell :)

You’ve made 15 exclamation points in 7 posts. Lay off the caffeine.

Such impeccable scores, salzahrah :)

@kobudnik I am actually drinking coffee right now! haha.

Any seniors out there taking the Oct SAT and the Nov SAT???

i am a senior and yes i am taking the Oct and Nov SAT! this will be a challenge! gotta try to stay away from distractions :frowning: oh so many sat vocab words :frowning: my CR is the worst :(

…Yeah, maybe I am not an expert to talk about this cuz CR is my headache as well. But memorizing adequate words first and then read( if u can not read fast enough,u can omit the part between hyphens, which are most explanations or examples) works for me.Becides, answer ALL the questions based on what u read NOT what u know from somewhere else.

Ok. It’s my first SAT attempt.
Math: 720-750+ (usually omit 2-3 last questions(one in each section)
WR: Essay 3/6 + 20-25 raw ~450-500 (but I’m working on it now)
CR: 10-14 ~ 400-450 (I’m learning second vol. of Direct Hits)

I need good strategy for passage based reading.
Thanks.
