Advice please?
I've been planning on retaking my SAT in October.
My score was 2260, 690 CR, 770 Math, and 800 Writing.
I'm happy with all but my CR score, and since I'm applying to mostly Ivy/top schools, I feel like I should retake for a better CR score in October.
However, I'm not sure if I should just let it go or still keep pushing forward and memorizing vocabulary and such.

2260? that is really good. Although it depends on which ivy league. Princeton accepts almost nobody. trust me. I wouldn’t retake it. Did you do any satIIs?
Also maintain 4.0 GPA and be a Holistic student and I’m sure ivy leagues will accept you.
My sat scores are nowhere near that lol. I’m retaking in october… How ever if you do plan on taking it… Nobodies stopping you

If it makes you feel better go for it. I really don’t think it will matter in the end.

If you have taken it only once or twice and you are sure you can do better, definitely go for it. If you have already taken it 3 times and that is pretty much your plateaued practice score, then forget about it.

I got a 2260, too. 730 CR, 790 Math, 740 Writing. I’m in the same boat as you kinda, debating a retake, but if that was only your 2nd time I think you should definitely retake it for the CR. Figure out if you mostly missed vocab or passage-based questions, and work on that. It would be better balanced considering your other scores are much higher.

I wouldn’t retake if the points were distributed equally, but I think that CR score is worth raising past 700 for Ivy League schools.

mynameismott: Your situation is much better. Your CR+M is 1520. While sardonyx827 has only 1460 with CR below 700. For you, you don’t really need to retake SAT1.

How many times have you taken it? If you’ve only taken it once, you might want go for the retake. The first time I took it i got a 2260, second time I improved to a 2360. It can be worth it. IMO the CR section is about luck and getting vocab words that you know, so its worth a shot.

@billcsho I’m just a little worried. I’m planning on applying to four ivies and I feel like I should try to get my other scores past 750. But I guess I shouldn’t be complaining. Thanks for the input.

I’m in the same situation. Got a 2240 on the SAT (680 CR 760 M(1 wrong!) 800 W). I’m definitely going to retake in October, just for CR. Hopefully, I can bring it up to 750+
