October SAT Curves?

aw man im soo angry!! man i missed so much math than I wanted to. I made a 680 last time.. I really want like 700+
What's the difference between -2 MC on math and a -2 Freeresponse on math?

i dont think anything, unless they round the -.5 to a -1 which btw would suck

uh, guys. how many wrongs can you get if you want 700 to 720 on CR? I think i got 6 or 7 wrong so far according to do official CR thread...

From what I know, they do round to the nearest whole number, so getting two wrong probably gets rounded to an extra minus point.

UcMichigan, you are penalized for wrong answers in multiple choice. This is to balance for questions that you get right by guessing. Since there are 5 choices, lets say you get 1 right for every 5 you guess. Collegeboard feels you haven't earned that 1, so what they do is subtract 1/4th of a point for each wrong answer, giving you a total of 0.

Free responses, on the other hand, are not penalized. This is because it is nearly impossible to blindly guess, unlike multiple choice. There are... what? 20449 possible answers? More? They can't subtract 1/20448th of a point, so they just give it to you.

So basically, you get a -1/4th penalty for each wrong answer in multiple choice, and no penalty on the grid in.

2 wrong...the scoring is in your favor: rounding up.

54-2-1/4*2 = 51.5 = 52

What's the scaled score for 3 wrong and 1 omit for math?

what's the scaled score for 1 wrong(I'm not sure on this one, but i'm guessing i stupid mistake somewhere) and 2 omitted for math?

So I missed at least one grid-in and one MC, and then left three other MC blank -- what do you think my math score will be? I agree that it was too easy, the curve will be killer. Do you think I can pull a 700, assuming I didn't miss any others?

yes, i think thats probably about 700-720.

hmm on March, math, I omitted 1, got 1 wrong= 760

Did much worse this time around though..

math: 0 --> 800
-1 --> 770
-2 --> 760
then 750, 740, and so on

I really bombed this test. I didn't answer that one math question with the 3 equations and what z equaled because i ran out of time. darn. I had a freaking EVIL proctor lady who watched everyone like a HAWK. SHIZZZ.
As for the Critical Reading, it was dumb. Historian passaged SUCKED, and I was unable to catch the "double meaning" for the Aunt passage.
Writing part was but there were many answers that didn't have any problems with the sentences.. it was either that, or I really SCREWED up! AHHHHHHHHHHH. I started writing about RUBBER ERASERS for the essay, could it have gotten any worse than THAT? XD bahaha. kind of funny though.

I REALLY HOPE THE CURVE IS LENIENT FOR ALL SECTIONS THIS TIME.

I can't believe they put a load of Critical reading sections in a ROW. it sucked major. collegeboard shouldn't have done that... it really fried my brain.

1 WRONG ON MATH IS 770

that is ridiculous

i hope i get above a 300 on the sections O_O. a 900 would be my goal score for sure

where did you get 1 wrong on math = 770? cause if that's true i screwed up. last time I got 4 wrong and i got a 720.

1 wrong is like 780-770 or something. its pretty harsh i know

900 out of 2400? you got to be kidding me.

i set my standards low so i wont be dissapointed :-p

-1 math has been 760 on some curves and 800 on others. It really depends. Apparently from the reactions, math from this test seemed to be easy so I would take a conservative guess of about 770 for -1.
