My D missed 5 questions over-all for a 1510–it seems like it was an “easier” test, with a harsh curve.
Did anyone not get their test scores? My d took it on 10/6 no results yet!!!
This was definitely an “easier” test. With the number my daughter got correct, her score would have been 90 points higher on a more typical SAT.
So my score is 1360 ( Verbal 660; Math 700); this was my first time taking the SAT. I actually hoped for a much better result, since I’ve been scoring 1500+ on the practice tests (usually with no more than 2 mistakes for the whole Math section). My essay score is awful - a 5/3/6, and i would really appreciate some suggestions on how to improve both my score and essay.
@Kathmiller first make sure that the school you will apply to require the essay, I know CA schools still do but many other do not. From our school’s GC

An ongoing conversation in college admissions is the value of the writing portion of these tests. As of July 18, 2018 only 19 colleges require the essay portion of these exams. If you are not applying to one of these colleges, you might choose not to register for the writing portion and save yourself time and money; we do advise you to thoroughly review each college’s admissions requirements section on their websites for further guidance.

^ Agreed. My son, who didn’t take the SAT with essay, was surprised to find that many potential schools of interest no longer required it as of this admissions cycle. It really allowed him to expand his list of schools as a result. If you aren’t applying till next year, keep in mind that some of your schools still requiring the essay may well drop the requirement for next year.
I got a 1400 (670 in english and 730 in math) even though I’ve always had more than 700 in english on my practice tests. The moth and fisheries passages really messed it up for me…
