We just got my daughter’s scores. Very happy! I hope everyone gets theirs soon. The waiting is just terrible.
Got DS’s score. He’s done with SAT testing!
received in colorado about 4 pm MST… all done with testing! very happy results.
Just wondering what kind of scores do you folks consider good enough to be “done” with testing?
My D20 scored 1510 which is super on her first try but her math was 730 and she wants to be a comp sci major at a competitive school-maybe ED Vanderbilt?
She is stressed because she would LOVE to be done but is thinking that raising that math score might make a difference in admissions.
Anyone’s thoughts on this?
Most schools super score so it is worth taking it again if she thinks she can pull up the math score. My S19 took it 3 times. The first turned out to be his highest verbal and his highest overall score, on the second he pulled his math score up 20 points but got a lower verbal score, and the third turned out to be a waste of time. LOL. But his super score ended up stronger than his original high score so we thought it was worth it that he did it a second time. I thought his scores on those two tests were close enough that taking it a third time wouldn’t help and I turned out to be right. So my suggestion is to take it again and focus on practicing the math. She’s got plenty of time.
@lalalander111 I would think schools like Vanderbilt would put more weight on the SAT2 math subject test anyway, but that’s just a guess on my part.
Any ideas what score one needs on the essay to be done, for a kid going into a likely STEM major (but not engineering)? Think UC-level schools, as they still require the essay. Other than that I think she’s done.
@lalalander111 That’s a tough one… my senior daughter, who wants to study engineering, took the SAT for the first time this October. She already had a one sitting ACT of 35 and subject tests in math 2 and chemistry of 800. So she wasn’t planning any other tests. We were recently told she is a national merit semifinalist, and they require a confirming SAT score. so we signed her up for this sat 2 weeks ago. She got a 1570 - so she is done! : )
I would suggest prepping for the sat math subject tests. We have found that quite a few elite colleges require amath and a science subject test. My daughter took them right after her junior year. Good luck!
Finally got both SAT score and the Essay score. even CB said the essay score will be on October 21.
