October Sat score got invalidated TT

Hi, i am senior in van nuys high school and i have gotten this dirty @ss letter from ETS, saying that my test got invalidated. Anyways hear my story!!!

I took my first SAT test in june 2, 2012. During that day, i had a headache and didnt know what SAT was. I got my score and got 1300, OUCH!. I knew that i did not do well on the test. After i got my first score, i asked my mom if i can go to Elite and learn lessons myself. She was very impressed and sent me to Elite. I studied there for three months from July to the last day of September. I always spend my time working on SAT review test and practice question that i got wrong. Thanks to Elite, i improved from 1300 to 1950 on my SAT practice test. Later, October 6, 2012 test came and i was fully prepared for SAT 1. I was also confident that i can score 1950. I was excited and waited for my score. Later, i got a letter saying that my test is under investigation and will be finished in 4 weeks. I was very dissapointed and also worried. I kept calling them and emailing them. Because my october score is not on the website, i decided to take december test as my backup in case if october score doesnt come out. I was not fully prepared for december because i had sat 2 test on november and i had 10 page report and also programming project due at december 3, two days after the december test. I did not do well on the test sadly :((. Later, i got a mail saying that my score got invalidated. I was like wth man mother puckers and i didnt understand the reason why. I was very nervous and lost!!!

My point with this story is to tell you helpers that i need a serious help about the invalidation of my October 6 test :(! I have read the tips on this website, but i dont know which one is right. Some say to find a lawyer and some say to use verbal language and go attrition on the ETS administrators. If you guys have any tips or support, please help me and tell me. i seriously need help and im lost. Any ideas guiseee :(((

I’d get a lawyer, but before all that i would try first to contact them and tell them how i got better during summer and if they are still not convinced i’d call a lawyer to help sort things out.

You increased your score too much. You probably had a 2000 on the October SAT which is 700 points increase and looks suspicious. You should have gone to 1700 and then 2100 but I understand that nobody wants to do bad on a test and you can’t control your score. Well don’t get a lawyer right away. You should have tell them about how you managed to increase your score that much. Basically taking the June SAT and getting a 1300 screwed you up. Good luck!

You said your December score got invalidated after you saw it ? What was it ?

Do these ETS people even reason like that??? Cant there be any other reason…sounds fishy!!
GET A LAWYER BRO!!

“Some say to find a lawyer and some say to use verbal language and go attrition on the ETS administrators.”

That might not convince them your score is valid… ;-)

Sounds like you achieved your score fairly, so I’m sorry they’re putting you through that. Were you the only one whose score was invalidated?

You might want to consult a lawyer, but I would advice against filing a lawsuit, and most definitely against trashing ETS on the phone. Lawsuits could take many months, and be sure that ETS will do everything in its power to not lose that case. For you, it’s your score. For them? it’s their reputation that is on the line. I would call them and ask for an explanation. Preferably, let an adult speak with them (they respond better to “adults”. It’s sad, but it’s true.)

Honestly? the best advice I could give you is to buckle up, and take the January test. It’s probably unfair, and just plain wrong. But that seems the quickest, and best solution. Make the best of it, and try to raise your score even more.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, one of the ways of dealing with a score investigation is to re-test; a score in line with your high October score would have demonstrated that the October score was probably legit. By taking the December test unprepared, you instead led ETS to believe they were right in doubting your October score.

Move on. Do better in January.

I would call and talk to them. Get your mother talk to them. I can’t believe they can cancel your score just like that without investigating you directly. I wouldn’t allow this to go away.

thanks for the advices guysss well idk because i dont feel like taking the test but i called elite and they told me to take the test and move on -_-
Doesnt it take long to find a lawyer and repeal the situation

also they said to call the university administrator to extend my score delivery

College Helper, Get back to reviewing hard and take the January test as prepared as you can be. A lawyer will be expensive and will take a long time. Clearly the issue is that you did so poorly on your first test because you were so unfamiliar with the test. A 700 point gain is way beyond typical, though, so you have to pull another high score to demonstrate your Oct score was legitimate.

Dowzerw, thanks man this time ima show them who i really am thanks and well i need to call admission office to extend score delivery to UCs?

Yes, you will need to call them. You don’t want to get in to the whole story. Keep your explanation simple.

Just study really hard for the next test (January). Honestly, even if you told Collegeboard that you took a prep class and legitimately improved, you have no evidence to back you up. Collegeboard’s claims against you are far more strong than your claims against them.

He went to courses. There must be some records and registration left. This is evidence.

yeah but im not sure they are gonna believe that they think its like a forge -__- well i hope i do well on january
