This is the discussion on the October SAT Biology E/M test.

im taking it tomorrow, shooting for over a 760 , ideally 800!

Also taking it tomorrow. My practice scores have been all over the place from 700 on Kaplan to 770 on Prinston tests so I have no idea what to expect.

Lol, I'm taking it tomorrow as well (M), but for all intents and purposes winging it. Dunno how I'll do though. ;D Shooting for 750+, although deep down I'll be disappointed with anything less than an 800.

We're done here in Asia :)
You guys in the states are probably taking it right now...
Well I thought it was fairly challenging...
Anyone get the answer for where grasshoppers reproductive and excretory systems are located?

Grrr. some of the questions were SO random. And a lot of the stuff I studied for wasn't even on there!

I hope there is a huge curve.

just got back.

dream- i put A,A,A which was the backpart of the grasshopper lol.

i thought it was challenging. looked over both E and M and thought E was easier.

for me, it was more difficult than Barron practice tests, but this is coming from a person who crammed for bio 3 days before the test...

anyone get i think number 3? talked bout different reproduction success rates due to diff. phenotypes? i put genetic drift -.-

also what did u guys get for the one bout dna. asked most genes are ___.

I agree, there were a lot of random questions. I went to the testing center prepared for M, but looked at E and decided to take that instead.

ta1w4anboi,

3 is natural selection im pretty sure

for most genes question, i was sort of confused as well, i put "dominant" for the answer, not too sure though...

I thought the test was difficult as well. I studied the princeton book pretty thoroughly and a lot of questions asked about topics not covered in princeton.

ohh mg i studied for this so hard...my questions

what is an inversion mutation

what did u say for the galactisidose question? why was mutant 2 unable to synthesize it?

what about the fetal hemoglobin vs. adult hemoglobin one?

and the yeast UV one? what did u say was the reason it turned red?

i think im gonna cancel...im pretty sure i got eight wrong and two blank

and i got 800's on both the princeton review ones
they changed the test...should have taken it in June

inversion mutation is when two or more base pairs are switched

i didn't take the M so i don't know:(

which question on the fetal hemoglobin vs. adult hemoglobin?

read 2

for 1 i didnt know either but i assumed that it was the reversing of the bases which i think is right...what were the options for two?...3 was something about how the fetal hemoglobin has more O2 at lower pressures...4 was pretty difficult...i took a guess and said that mutations caused it (choice B i think).

yeah that sounds right...
for the number of atoms involved in the photosynthesis was it 3?

and for the 8 genes question, is the answer 8 different amino acids coded (don't remember exact wording of answer)

one more question, is 5 wrong on a E exam about an 800?

for photosynthesis it was 36. i put down 72 because i counted the product side too. I feel so stupid right now. for the 8 genes it was 8 proteins.

Other questions i remember...
1. water goes up because of transpiration pull
2. for the gull nesting stuff i said that "increased resistance against a disease" was not an advantage
3. there were two hardy-weinberg questions i forget the questions...i put "random mating" for one of them
4. something about individual traits and mendel that i wasnt sure of...i put dihybrid cross
5. intron exon question...got that one wrong...answer was 350

what was the answer to cartilage? connective tissue with protein matrix or the fiber option...

i put the protein matrix

did you put that the fox was a secondary consumer
(food web- fox ate the mouse and 2 other animals)

didnt take eco but i would guess that its secondary since a mouse is primary...

for the E section, what did you guys say for the problem about the phylogenetic diagram asking what Node 1 was? i couldn't tell if it was phylum or kingdom or something else.

also, what was the answer for the question asking why we usually eat the leaves of a plant and not the woody stem of plants?
