Congrats to all the Baby Doe cast! My D was not cast in the opera, so you probably won’t be seeing me in February. D will be back from New York before Christmas. The show is just a 4-day special, so it does not interfere with school at all.

Musicmom1215 - I just caught up on all the exciting news about Clash of the Choirs. Can't wait to see your D on NATIONAL TV! You can count on lots of votes from our house.

Also, congrats to CC'ers with kids in Baby Doe.

mtpop, didn't your S get a MAJOR role in Baby Doe?

More bragging from me. My D just found out that she has been selected as her choir's soprano representative who will appear on the Today Show to promote Clash of the Choirs. I think each of the five choirs is choosing four people (SATB) who will combine to perform. Don't know yet which morning it will be, but I will post as soon as I know in case you want to watch.

Congratulations to your D, musicmom. That sure will be a thrilling experience for her and for you, as well. Keep us updated.

Wow! what a thrill, as SOON as you know when post, we'll be watching!

It may not be all that glamorous! Could be standing outside in the cold early in the morning at the Today Show studio trying to sing with frozen lips! She probably won't know until she gets there at the end of next week, but I will post as soon as I hear.

musicmom, LOL

Don't know many details really, but D will be on national TV again doing a 90-second spot on ESPN to open some car race in February, I think. It will be with Blake Shelton and many (if not all) of the other choir members she performed with in NYC. I'm assuming it will only run once, unless they use some clips to promote the race. Anyway, it will be fun and I'm sure she will learn a lot. They will shoot it in OKC, so she won't have to travel for this one.

I was born and raised in NASCAR country and, while I'm not a fan, I do happen to know that the 50th running of the Daytona 500 is in February - it will be a big deal so the spot may air more than once.

Let us know when it will air, I dont watch sports on TV, but I will make a point to watch to see your D and the others from OCU!

More info re my post #9 above. It is to promote the Daytona 300 which is the day before the 500. I believe it is Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1:15 Eastern time on ESPN. The spot is supposed to run during the pre-show and again at the beginning of the race. This time they are wearing green choir robes and Blake is singing with them.

Just wanted to post that we thoroughly enjoyed the Ballad of Baby Doe. SRW - your S was great (as always). We really enjoy hearing him sing. We were really proud of our S's performance. Kudo's to all who were in the show.

I did not see the show, but my D was ass't stage manager and she said it was great.

Mtpop, Thanks for the kind words. My S says your son was tremendous in the role, he says his acting really brings out the character. I also saw this about your S in Le Villi.

mtpop, which role did your son play (and on which night?) we saw the show Friday and Saturday and enjoyed both tremendously. kudo's to srw's son who was excellent in his role.

Thanks SRW - it's nice having a "mutual admiration society" amongst us! LOL. Jordansmom - I pm'd you.

Well it sounds as if it was a good show allround. I look forward to seeing the pictures, hopefully they'll be up by next week! Yes the MAS is a good thing, I think in general we are all members!

I realize this is a late post to this thread but since you all are moms of OCU students, I'm curious how you feel the acting training has been within the MT major? I understand that the instructors are different than those dedicated to the Theater Department.

D was cast as Marcy Parks in 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee this July/August at the local Dinner Theatre. :)
