let me just ask this question. is there anyone who can't meet wed. for lunch? j

Hi everyone, sorry about the delay in input. Razorback, breakfast, brunch, or lunch on Wednesday would be okay for my mom and me. We are pretty flexible in terms of scheduling.

Wednesday lunch would be good for us.

chrisr, are you the one who added "kaed" to the ocu acceptances list? he or she needs to be made aware of our meet. or, it just occurred to me, is that your son's friend?

I think we can make Wednesday lunch on our way out of town.

Kim J

maybe we could go early, meet at the restaurant at 11:00. is this going to make your trip home too long?

razorback1,
Kaed used to be known as friend of son of chrisr. I thought I would give him his own place on the list. I will let him know about lunch in case he doesn't read this. Thanks.
Chris

Good luck to all of you OCU freshmen and to Shauna!!! We are so excited that a good friend of Eric's is going to OCU in the fall for dance. Two girls from our dance studio are going to be freshmen in dance, but he is closer to one of them. Also, the boy we knew that auditioned for MT did not get in.

I think some of you are going to summer orientation (Stars?) in July - if it is the last 3 weeks, look up Eric in HS vocal camp (with so few boys signed up - but many girls - he'll probably be the only one with that name). Tell him you correspond with his crazy mom. He'll track down mtmommy's daughter by then for sure, and anyone else who tells us they are for sure going. We're so excited about it!!!

So it is lunch on Wednesday at 11 AM for sure? Have we decided where? How many will there be of us?

how about that pizza place you mentioned? and i'm in.

Wednesday is move-in day for my S. Not sure if we are coming up Tuesday night or driving in Wednesday morning. In any event, we'll try and be there for lunch. Looking forward to meeting all of you. Are any CC parents staying for the Thursday School of Music orientatation and lunch? Also, is anyone going to the July Stars 101? My S hasn't signed up yet, but he said he wanted to go.

We can make it for lunch on Wed at 11. Not sure how many yet!

Mtpop, my d is not going to STARS 101 because we live so far away, but someone on here told her that they had a really good time, so have your s check it out if her can. Also, your s might want to go ahead and set up his OCU e-mail (and facebook, if he wants to). I think my d posted one page back on how to do this (post #84...maybe?)

Hi all! I'm a musical theater major at Oklahoma City University.

I wanted to welcome you to the start of an amazing experience! You've made an wonderful choice of schools to start your MT career. I came all the way from California to study at OCU and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences ever. You're going to find a dedicated faculty that will do whatever it takes to make you successful. You're going to have four years of hard work. But you'll also have four years of lasting memories and life long friendships.

I just found this site and see that some of you may have questions about campus life at OCU. You may want to know:

Do I have to audition for every show? (Yes..you will become well rounded in both MT and opera)
Do I have to take foreign language and science? (Yes)
Do I really have to learn eight songs a semester? (Yes..starting 2nd semester)
Does Mary Mowry really know everything? (Yes..it is scary)

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here. I'll be happy to answer them or forward them to the appropriate person. Cause at OCU, we're all about you!

Again, welcome to the Oklahoma City University family. And get ready for the ride of your life!

(ps...you are required to watch the Tony Awards Sunday night and root for OCU's Kelli O'Hara, nominated in the Best Featured Actress in a Musical catagory for "The Light In The Piazza". Hmm..two OCU Tony winners?)

Now graduation and the party's done, S is working to pay for some of his expenses and I've booked our room for OK in August. We are staying at the Hawthorne suites. We will arrive Tuesday about dinner time - hopefully- any one else who will be there then maybe we could meet for a bit that evening e-mail me for my Phone #. M. Mowry said we should have time to make it over to Hideaway Pizza for lunch on the 17th before we have parents meeting at 4:30 that day. Am I being too bossy?

is anyone going to stars 101 on july 11? we will be there.

Razorback - I wanted to send you an e-mail but yours is not activated. My PM's are too full for me to send you a PM. Please send me an e-mail. We won't be at stars 7/11, but we will be on campus checking in for 3 week summer program that very day.

To all my OCU Internet friends, hope you'll go see the update on the OCU summer program and the Footloose auditions that I just posted under the summer program thread.

My D is looking at OCU for 2006 fall admission. What are your opinions on the honors program? Are the benefits worth the extra work?

Thanks!

Illinisue,

My d has been accepted into the honors program for this fall, so I can't tell you yet if it is extra work or worth it, but they do have an Honors dorm they have started for this year and I know that you get an extra .25 (I think) on your GPA. Also, during orientation week they have several special things planned for the honors students and my d gets to move in two days before everyone else. I will keep you posted once she gets in school.

Thanks lexasmom - I appreciate your input :)
