Ocu freshman class

illinisue,

I'm also going to be in the honors program in the fall, lexasmom pretty much sumed up what I know about it. I hear it can be extra work, but I did not enroll in any honors courses for first semester so that I could ease into things.

While I'm posting, I thought I'd let everyone know that I got to meet Kelli O'Hara the other day. She was extremely sweet and very excited to hear that I was going to OCU and talked with me for quite a bit about it. She was just wonderful in Piazza.

Oh yea, and count me and my mother in for lunch on the 15th.

When it time for graduate school your GPA # and GRE score are what is most important not necessarily the difficulty of your major or your classes.

In my experience through others-- a communications major and a poli sci major are not wieghed any differently....its numbers, numbers, numbers (recommendations are important but not as much, again, as your stats)

So, again, I think it is a personal choice.

OK gang with a little more than two weeks to go I have started getting things ready. I now have a map from OCU campus to the Pizza Place; are we still on? What time do we want to meet on Wednesday for lunch? Contact me personally and I'll e-mail the directions.
S is in Draper, his roommate is a soccer player and moves in on the 10th so we should have it pretty easy as roomies stuff should be all settled. We are staying at Hawthorne Suites - anyone else? If it looks like we are going to have a crowd I'll call ahead and reserve our table(S).

we're definitely on. arriving on tuesday to move in and will call hawthorne tomorrow. they have good rates. i think we should try to go early as some have a long way to drive and are leaving that day. d is in banning and is rooming with alexasmomkbj's daughter. we met in this forum and now our girls are going to room together. i think that's pretty neat. looking forward to meeting everyone. how about just posting the directions and we can all print them out?

S and I are on for lunch on Wednesday. What's the name and address of the restaurant?

Three of us will be coming for lunch - one mom and two students. Just let us know where.

There will be four of us --myself, my husband, one student, and one little brother! (the whole family). Let us know where and what time...we will be the ones who need to get on the road soon after lunch!

~Kim J

here are our numbers, husband, me, and d.

O.K. - The resturarant is Hide-Away Pizza 6616 N. Western Ave. - about 3 miles from campus. Google Map is good for directions. Is 11 AM OK?

We have
Cluelessmc2 - 3
Alexasmomkbj -4
Razorback1-3
Chrisr - 3
Mtpop - 2

Shauna?
fingers-crossed?
Anyone else?

There will be 2 of us, can't wait to meet everyone!

Two for me, as well! 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17. Is that right?

11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17 HideAway Pizza - 6616 N. Western Ave.

Alexasmomkbj -4
Chrisr - 3
Cluelessmc2 - 3
fingers-crossed-2
Mtpop - 2
Razorback1-3
Shauna-2

Are we missing anyone? That's 19 total - I think I will let them know about our crowd - it's a good place for handling groups. My S has told me he has had contact on Facebook with everyone- except he isn't sure about Mtpop's S. Anyway he is mortified that I plan to make up name tags with our CC monikers in the corner with space for us to put our real names. I of course will now do it just to bug him! It is the least I can do for all the years he has melted the butter in the microwave when there is a soften button he could push!

One more thing - I would like to put the states we are all from on our name tags (S will now really roll his eyes - "MY MOM IS SOoo ANAL")

Alexasmomkbj -4 NC
Chrisr - 3 AZ
Cluelessmc2 - 3 MN
fingers-crossed-2 NY
Mtpop - 2 ???
Razorback1-3 TX
Shauna-2 TX

Do I have that right so far?
Jenifer

mtpop and son are from the great state of Texas!

i forgot, boyfriend is probably coming with us so that makes 4. and i think name tags are a terrific idea. we have to create our own kind of "cool." the kids just have to get over it.

What fun OCU people!! Have a wonderful lunch...you'll be on our minds! :)

SUE aka 5pants

Can someone PM me with the number for Hawthorne Suites? My parents want to make reservations but are having trouble finding it online. Thanks!

My PM's are full!

Hawthorn Suites in OKC - 800-527-1133 or 405-840-1440. Ask for the OCU rate. A good breakfast is included.

Don't try to mapquest from school to there, because it will misdirect you. Just take Classen north to NW Expressway, go one block west. The hotel is at corner of NW Expressway and Blackwelder. Blackwelder does not go all the way through, so from campus go east back to Classen.

Hi all!

We're glad we'll be seeing you at Oklahoma City University next week for the new music students lunch!
