Hi! My D auditioned at OCU Nov. 16 (their first day). Still waiting–has anyone heard anything? Also, do they cap the number of students in this program? I have read conflicting information. D has been accepted to Belmont (yay!), but rejected from IU (at audition they told us they only take 8-14), and we are on pins and needles over OCU, as she’s classically trained and this is likely a good fit for her. BAL to all your kids, and look forward to discussing and sharing this misery of waiting!
Hi @midwestmtmom82 ! My D and I were there that same weekend . They told my D she’d hear something in 3-4 weeks, and she hasn’t heard anything back yet, but there is still time left within that time frame. I think they typically have around 35ish in each MT class there. My D’s good friend is a sophomore MT there, and I think she said her class has about that many. I have no idea how many they accept to yield that amount though.
Fingers crossed for both our Ds! It’s a fantastic program.
Yes—fingers crossed! Hoping the wait ends soon.
My D auditioned the same day…we are still waiting as well.
As far as numbers of students in the program…OCU said at the event between 160-200 between musical theatre and vocal production.
That is good to know–they accept a lot to yield what I think is around 35/class.
@midwestmtmom82 D here was also accepted to Belmont (double yay!)and also auditioned at OCU that weekend, based on previous years threads I suspect the OCU email is coming tonight or tomorrow night but that is purely a hunch by me. I think that 150-200 number is student across all 4 years in MT not the number accepted annually to yield 35. it did seem like from prior year threads that early auditions help as they do rolling admissions and therefore later auditions might have less seats, but maybe im just trying to convince myself!?
Congrats to you also on Belmont! Looks like a great program, and sure feels good to have one in the bag this early.
Yes–I told my D I think it will be today or tomorrow!! Crossing fingers–the waiting is just awful.
had thought 5:30 EST today based on historical but did not hear anything tonight/yet
@NYYFanNowMTdad we have been stalking email all day and finally gave up at 6 pm! I came here to see if you had heard anything
@midwestmtmom82 the last 2 years on this site the threads consistently showed a Wednesday notification at 5:30pm est 3.5 weeks after the audition date, guess not this year
@NYYFanNowMTdad I know!! I thought for sure it would be today. I assume they notify everyone all at the same time?
@NYYFanNowMTdad Well…still nothing today for us.
@midwestmtmom82 NADA here either, seems to be radio silence for everyone on OCU …hopefully tomorrow?
OCU letter was in spam last night @6;04PM EST for those still waiting or future hopefuls- Today would have been 4 weeks from her audition date.
Ours came at 6:40 pm EST, so right before they closed for Christmas but still technically in the four week time frame. Hope this helps future OCU auditioners…they came down to the four week wire this year!
No email yet for my son. A local friend’s daughter who also auditioned that Saturday received word - again, her email was caught in spam but was timestamped 5:45pm on Friday as well. My understanding is that all students would receive an email whether or not they are admitted? Thanks! BAL to all who auditioned!!
We found it in spam… I know you’ve heard this. We were in the same boat but it was because we mistakenly thought “Promotions” folder (or “Social” folder) in gmail was the spam folder… It is not! On the left, there is a drop-down “more” button and when we clicked on it, behold! another folder called spam. There’s no telling what we’ve missed as it says it automatically deletes what’s in that folder after 30 days. Ugh. Not sure if this is where your email is, but thought I’d share.
@bird1002 Thank you! Yes, we have checked that Spam folder under the “more” button regularly since Saturday morning. Seems to be a common theme that students are finding the OKCU letter in their Spam this year. My son sent a short email inquiry to OKCU this afternoon since it is past the four week timeframe, and he hopes to hear from someone before Christmas break.
We have searched high and low and haven’t found an email. My son is sending an email inquiry today. Has your son received a response to his inquiry?
@prarie He hasn’t received an email response but then we realized that if there is an email issue that he might not receive anything that was sent to that same address. So I called his admissions counselor this morning and she was so kind. Said they had sent him an email last Friday like everyone else but it’s nowhere to be found in our email folders. She reached out to the Music School and asked them to resend it to his OKCU email account as well as my personal email address. She then wrote us back to say that a lot of students are having email issues with auditions results, so she wasn’t sure when we’d see the email. They gave her permission to give my son his results over the phone if he called her, which he did. I would definitely reach out…sounds like lots of technical issues.
