Odd FA situation?

I was hoping that someone could help me out with a FA question, because my situation is starting to become a bit complicated.

I am an adult student who is currently enrolled in a CC and I am hoping to transfer to a 4 year school starting in January. I have applied and they have received all of my past transcripts, except for the one from my current school. I have also filled out the FAFSA and, after some minor issues, received word today that everything is squared away on their end of things.

If, for some reason, I don't get admitted to the 4 year school, I plan to take more classes at the CC to raise my gpa and not waste a semester not being in school.

Am I going to cause an issue, FA wise, if I sign up for classes now at the community college, then drop them and sign up for classes at the 4 year school if I get in? I will know if I've been admitted to the 4 year school no later than two weeks before the 100% refund drop deadline at the community college.

You may have some issues with the 4 year school just from the standpoint of having aid pending at another school. All you will need to do is get confirmation from the CC that you have canceled your aid, though, if the 4 year school accepts you - take that to the new school & they can package your aid for you. Just remember to drop at the CC … you don’t want to be stuck with a bill for a school you are not attending.

Thanks for the response, Kelsmom! That’s kind of what I figured, but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to be creating an issue that will be complicated to reverse.
