My GPA was pretty crappy in the 9th and 10th grade, but I have brought it up TREMENDOUSLY in the 11th and now 12th grade (my term is different, I'm an international student). My SAT is 2210, SAT IIs Lit 700, WH 780, thinking of doing one more. And my ECs are really original, showing solid direction, passion and focus. ECs are my strength, I truly believe they make me stand out from the rest. I just wanna get opinions on whether you guys think my GPA rise will help/prevent me from schools like

Brown
NYU
Amherst
Emory
Boston College

...keeping in mind my SAT scores and ECs!
I'm extremely focused and determined, and will work on any aspect I need to to improve my chances.

To give any real feedback to an intnl, we need more info. Where you’re from heavily impacts decisions, so we need to know country. And whether you’re asking for aid. Many kids think their ECs are standout. For any real help, explain them.

No, I’m not applying for financial aid. I’m from India. I come from a prestigious (won the “most respected school in the country” last and this year) private school.

My passion is art and women’s issues. So I’ve been heavily involved in both those aspects and have been covered by the press. I have delved deep into both and have a plethora of ECs related to both.

Is that sufficient information? Do you guys need to know anything else? Oh also, my biggest competition is applying as well (from my school), we have the same grades (including the same gpa situation), roughly the same SAT score, the same amount of APs. The difference between us is that I have more and stronger ECs (which show focus), while his are pretty scattered and lacking direction. But he also has more leadership positions than I do.

India is about the most competitive country you could be applying from. Even as a full pay, Brown and Amherst will be really tough. NYU you have a much better chance at and the others are possible. I’d add more schools ranked between 25-50.
