Odd Occurrence in Math ACT Score!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
My friend recently got his ACT score and he received a '35' in the Math section.

However, for his breakdown in each section (Pre-Algebra/Elem. Algebra, Algebra/Coor. Geometry, Plane Geometry/Trig), he received all 18's..... Meaning he technically didn't miss any questions.
I thought he was lying about getting all 18's at first, but when I went on his account and doublechecked this, it was indeed true.

I, as well, received a '35' but I had two 18's and a 16. How did we get the same score if he didn't miss any, and I got two wrong? Shouldn't he at least deserve a 36 for not missing any problems?

Did the ACT make a mistake somewhere?

This question has come up many times. Subscores do not have any direct correlation to section scores. This means that you can have all 18s for a section but still have missed one or more questions in that section. Go to ACT’s “Scores” section of their website for more information.

It’s the curve. You can still miss a couple math problems and receive a 35, or in a subdivision, an 18.
